Another storm, currently dumping on the southeast, is on its way north, expected to dump 6-12 inches from Philadelphia to New York to Boston on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The storm has already forced the cancellation of over 2000 flights in and out of ATL. Delta and AirTran, both of which have hubs in Atlanta, have been forced to cancel 1601 and 385 flights, respectively.

Looks like the coast is going to the worst of the storm and based on the track surely doesn't look like its going to move further east off shore. I don't mind these storms but would so rather have them on a Friday night or Saturday...Mother nature better take note of this schedule...

Forecasts seem to be getting worse...a few miles further west and we might get dumped on almost as badly as the Christmas weekend storm.

Here in Dallas on business they had flurries, and it's cold as NYC (32 degrees when I landed this afternoon at DFW). Coming back Friday should be interesting, I foresee delays.

Getting a little tired of this. And the big problem AFTER this storm is that the temps will be at or below freezing for awhile so there wont be a meltdown like last time.
Already figuring for a sick out Wed. knowing the reliabilty of LIRR in weather events like this.

Weather report here in CT is saying we're looking at 10-16" state wide (as of this morning). Not sure if I believe it though. Then we're looking at more this coming weekend? I hope I don't get stuck anywhere on my way home from TN.

Numbers keep fluctuating...NWS says 8-14in now, Craig Allen was saying 16-20in this morning, WCBS website says 7-12 now.

238 Wednesday flights already canceled to/from JFK, LGA and EWR according to FlightAware.com stats.

The way this is going and the timing I'll just wait till I get up I the morning and figure out my day from there.

I'll probably shovel and see a few patients tomorrow unless its terrible. the main roads to the office are usually clean first.

Gerard, I feel for you and LIRR users. I've seen the LIRR decline tremendously, from when my mom used to work there, then me and in the last 10 years, just worse and worse. At least they had equipment that could run in the snow. not any more.

Rejected takeoff at EWR tonight. Issues with getting supertug out to pull the plane in this weather. I don't envy the controllers tonight. More power to them.

Thanks. I understand having problems initially when a large storm hits but when they linger for days THAT is unacceptable, How long have they been doing this?
But thankfully I have vacation/sick days I can use to offset any financial losses, understanding managers at work and lots of Advil to use after shoveling!!
BTW the storm out here in Eastern Nassau County has blown out leaving us with a pretty (if annoying) 12 inches of snow. Skies are partly cloudy but clear and I saw on Eyewitness News
they have their helicopter airborne so winds cant be too significant. Going to make a path for my dogs first in the backyard then slowly tackle the front.

I ended up with about a foot of snow here in Syosset. Just got in from shoveling out the walk and driveway, took about 1 1/2 hours. Unfortunately, my neighbor with the big snowblower had to "rescue" his girlfriend who just had to go in to the office, so he had to go dig her out this morning. He got home just as I was finished.

Not too bad over here... About 13 inches or so I would say.... Had the front walks shoveled in about and hour... My neighbor owns a construction company and brough one of his Ford Backhoe's down the block and took care of everyones driveways as well as the street parking... Dumped it into the bay off the dock... The roads themselves are about as well plowed as Terri Wiegel..... I am impressed this time... JFK is up and down 31L as of an hour ago according to ATIS though.

Got about 17" here in Willimantic, CT right now and the snow is still coming down. Luckily my truck takes up more than half of my girlfriend's driveway so there won't be too much to shovel.

I chickened out with the shoveling. Oh I started but after 20 minutes and with no help at home (both sons away) I went back inside and I waited for the doorbell to ring. Didnt wait long so with the help of cash and three bottles of Poland Spring from my garage I am good to go. First time in 12 years out here I did that but it was money well spent. I did do the important
shoveling. My backyard deck (paving stones) so my dogs can do their business!!

Got up around 830 and the sun was shining in Huntington.

Made breakfast and finally got to diggin out 2 cars at 0947.

By 1000 my next door neighbor ran his snowblower up both sides of the driveway while I shoveled.

Basically all he needs to do is 2 passes on either side of the cars and the bulk of the snow is gone. Played a bit with the kids outside, threw on a clean t-shirt and off to the office to see patients at 1047.

@ office at 1107, Pinelawn and rte 110 are clean and wet NOW. Will ice up later. No accidents on the way to office but we'll see later as the temp falls....

I'm thinking we will have similar winter snowfall totals to last year.
