Any other events similar to Kiwanis Kid's Day?

Are there any other events in the EWR area where civies like me can walk up to and fiddle with a running turbofan without being sent to Guantanamo? I've got a total hard-on for aviation but rarely get the chance to be near a real plane. Also, how can I score free joyride flights on general aviation aircraft?

In the past I believe Newark has held a similar open house event on the same day as LGA Kids Day, but it's not as big nor is it publicized so everyone just goes to LGA.
