So even though it starts on Thursday, the first trade show isn't until Friday ?

Looking at the website its going to be $25 to attend all 3 trade sessions ? Sounds kind of steep .......

It's a pretty cool show. Full registration also gets you a goody bag which has a lot of stuff, as well as unlimited entries into the photo contest. You will also get 20% discount at the Intrepid all week with the AI2010 pass.

Folks, I sure to hope to see some of you the next few days in Newark. I have attended all but 1 Airliners International Convention since 1987, and while I have always been surprised since getting to know so many of you the last few years that hardly anyone from this site has not gotten on a plane, or driven to one of the last few years shows. But with this years being literally in our own back yard I really hope this will change the next few days. With no disrespect to the organizers of the one day past Newark shows, or the LGA Courtyard Marriott ones, this is a completely different league of show, with so much of interest to see regardless of your interest, or perhaps favorite present or past airlines. I have made many great friendships with fellow airline enthusist from all over at past shows, and it is very easy to spend at least several hours viewing all the displays, which are much more elaborate than what is seen at the one day shows, plus many more in number. For anyone reading this who is debating to go or not go, I really hope you do. For anyone who decided not to go but still has the opportinuty, I really hope you will reconsider, I really believe most of you will thank me when you see how awesome these shows are. After attenting around 23 or 24 of these conventions I think I am qualifed to say that !Thanks for reading my personal thoughts, sure hope to run into some of you folks Friday or Saturday ! LGA777

I'm looking at the schedule on line, are they really open Friday night until 10pm? If so, I may take a run over after work.

I just briefly glanced at the site.

Thanks Ron, I was thinking of popping in on Saturday. I'm playing Mr Dad and have both tails (er, kids, with me.)

So are we looking at potentially 15- 25 per head? Is there a charge for the kids, anyone know??

Mario,You will only need to pay $10 for you for one session, kids under 12 are free.Moose, they are open till 10, which is a first. It is possible not every vendor will stay that late but it would still be worth coming over.Even better their is a slide show and auction Friday night from 2000-2200 usually in a seperate smaller room. These are usally hosted by Eddy Gual from MIA and are usually G R E A T !!LGA777

Given that I have been waiting for this event for several years, and the fact that I have actually had dreams about it this week, I can safely say that I will be there with bells on, people. Keep an eye out for the longhaired dude with the Boeing hat.

Was a great day today, and I'm excited for tomorrow.

Please be sure to come by and say hi. I'll be wearing my desert flag hat and probably doing the raffle announcements and coordinating the Continental tours. I will also be back and forth between the NYCA table, which will be manned by Eric and another friend.

Hope to see you folks out there!

The goody bags have a custom Gemini Jets 737-200 made for the show, as well as other cool pins, stickers and more. The show is much more than just a typical collectibles show than you're used to at LGA or even EWR.

So the show is over.

I found the show to be more crowded on Friday then Saturday, but overall it was a pretty good turnout. I was disappointed that more members from this site did not attend. I met a lot of good people, made some new contacts and according to Phil I came in 2nd in the photo contest, beat out by a slide. oh well.

Next Year its in Portland, Oregon. Who's going?

Portland....way to liberal a place for me. But I'll definitely have ot do a show in teh future and may plan a weekend trip around it if the venue is right.

I guess the DC6 was out and about? I thought I saw her north of Lloyd Neck harbor while we were at the beach on ...Sat AM.

The DC-7 was doing flights...low level at 500ft over the local airports. FAA really hooked up the patterns.

Eric won the category of Best Air photo with his sunset silhouette MD-11 landing at LAX, but narrowly came in 2nd in the Best Of Show award with a gorgeous Eastern 757 slide. I'll show you folks the results once they publish.

The show was a lot of fun. Friday was definitely a little busier than Saturday. Friday was cool because the bar opened in the hallway outside the ballroom...so you could walk around the trade show tables with a beer in hand. A new experience!

I had a great time. I hope that some of you make it out to other AI shows in the future. Next year's in Portland OR should be good...I wonder if there will be any Boeing tours! Hmmmm

That would be great, but Seattle is about a 3+ hour drive.

but Seattle is about a 3+ hour drive

It's a 2.5 hour drive if you go fast enough.

PhilDernerJr
2010-08-17, 10:42 PM
It's not uncommon for the tour to arrange for a charter bus and make a 2 hour drive if there's an extra cool spot. Mohave being over 2 hours from LAX being an example of such a tour.
