Great stuff, Eric. What kind of stretch is required for shooting this? I heard that no bags are allowed so I'd rather bring the lens that'll do the trick. :P

If you have a 100-400 I would recommend it. I don't know about "no bags" rule as I was on Ellis Island and they allow bags.

that's awesome!!!! I have grandstand seats which should be pretty awesome...is there really a no bag policy? I'd suppose then that 300-420mm (300 f/4 + 1.4TC) should do the trick...those are some great shots! I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Not allowed in the ticketed viewing areas:

(m) unwieldy objects such as ladders, stools, (folding) chairs, boxes, large bags, rucksacks, suitcases and sports bags. “Unwieldy” is given to mean all objects which are larger than 25cmx25cmx25cm

Also,

2. All persons entering the event will be subject to search, on request. All bags and rucksacks are to be opened for inspection.

So it seems to me that small bags should be fine.

ok, yeah i have a backpack for my camera gear...it's certainly much larger than that, it's roughly as tall as my 30D with the 300mm and the 1.4TC on it and maybe 5/8 as wide....I had problems getting into Andrews with it, but that was military. I wonder if there'll be a problem with it considering it's civilian event and they can use judgment.

NIce shots Eric and very nice catching that gate slice!

So you were at Ellis Island? Was there a big crowd there? The light looks perfect there!
