I often go out to see the beautiful ship Queen Mary 2 at the dock in Brooklyn. I went to see her yesterday but she was not there. Did she dock up in the Hudson River? If so, how were the passengers ready to board her in Brooklyn notified? There is nothing on the Cunard website about a change in locations. Why couldn't she dock as usual in Brooklyn?

One of the two gangways was damaged during a Caribbean Princess docking, and it will a couple of months (estimate) before Queen Mary 2 can return there. However, Caribbean Princess will continue to use Red Hook.
The QM2 used Manhattan Terminal, Pier 90, Berth 4
As far as the Passengers Cunard contacted all of them to let them know of the change.

Thanks. I figured she must have been docked up in the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. I am surprised that repairs will take that long. How can Caribbean Princess use the dock if the gangway was damaged? Could it really be that Cunard was looking for an excuse to return the QM2 back to Manhattan? They were never happy with Brooklyn anyway from what I read. What about the longshoremen in Brooklyn? Are they losing work and wages as a result?

george, For over a decade back in the 80's, my friend and I used to visit the hill over Rockaway Blvd before the fence by Rwy 22L. We always came home full of ticks and mosquito bites. Finally, we used bug spray but the spray was getting all over my camera. Eventually, we stopped going. Later, that hill was demolished. I am curious if you really got Lyme Disease from that area? I am not in good health but I never attributed it to those ticks. What do you think?

I know the Queen Mary 2 is longer then Caribbean Princess so maybe that has something to do with why the Caribbean Princess is still docking in Brooklyn.
As far as Cunard and Brooklyn I never heard that they weren't happy with the dock over there and I doubt they they would make up this story just to move the ship to Manhattan. I know from speaking to a few people at Cunard it was not very easy getting in touch with all of the Passengers to tell them about the move.
I've never been to the mounds.. so i can't help you with the Lyme Disease questions.

A rep from Cunard says that the move to the West Side was temporary and the QM2 will return to Red Hook on June 7. I felt that the docking at Brooklyn was not popular for the passengers as there are no amenities. I found no restaurant, no gift shop, etc; just an information booth. Evidently Cunard is satisfied with the move to Brooklyn.

What cruise ship terminal do you know of has a restaurant or a gift shop? I have never been to a cruise ship terminal that has had anything like that. They are not like an airport terminal, for example port everglades Cruise Terminal 18 was designed to allow guests to check-in and be ready to board the ship in just 15 minutes. So there is not need for guests to be in the terminal for any length of time.
