It was Spann Watson from Westbury. He was 93 and passed at Winthrop Hospital.

Sad to hear that, but he certainly lived a full life. I had the honor of meeting him on a few occasions at the museum - we lost a true American hero today.

RIP. I've had the opportunity to meet a few of them, and they are great guys and true American Heroes.

I met 3 of them in 2000 when I was in Chicago and had my picture taken with them. One of the few time I actually cared about meeting a "celebrity" or someone important. Every year in Chicago the Tuskegee Airmen had a Fly in at Meigs Field.

The Alabama ANG Painted some of their F-16 with a red tail showing recognition of their service. I hope get get a shot of them someday. There is also a P-51 floating around with the red tail as well.
