Hello, Russian airline Transaero has applied before the US DOT for a permit to fly between Moscow and Miami, and Moscow and New York, as well as for charter flights between the Russian Federation and the United States.

According to Transaero's application, it intends to offer twice-weekly scheduled service between Moscow Domodemevo (DME) and JFK starting in December 2010 (once-weekly flights to Miami would start a bit earlier, in October 2010). Flights to JFK would operate in B747-400 in the following service pattern:

Summer 2010: Wednesday, Saturday
Winter 2010-2011: Tuesday only
Summer 2011: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday
Winter 2011-2012: Wednesday, Sunday

Flights to MIA would operate in B767-300 aircraft.

Wonder what this is going to do to that weird startup airline that bought that 747 out of the desert claiming to be the only one offering such service...

Well, Baltia's main route is meant to be JFK-St. Petersburg, which currently no one flies. Later they announced Moscow 1x weekly, which is insane because they will have 4x or daily competition from two or three other airlines (Aeroflot, Delta, Transaero).
