Middle Eastern carrier Emirates is to deploy its Airbus A380 aircraft on the route to Beijing later this year.
The Beijing A380 service will begin on 1 August and will mark the first scheduled operation to China with the type.
Emirates will deploy the 517-seat aircraft on its current daily EK306 service from Dubai. The airline uses Boeing 777s on the connection at the moment.
"This new operation bears testimony of our ongoing commitment to China, offering enhanced capacity to the world's third-largest economy as it surges ahead with its international trade and development agenda," says Emirates Airline president Tim Clark.
But he believes that the additional capacity to China will still "not be sufficient" and that strong economic progress in China "justifies a further expansion in aviation links in the near future".
