Nice find Fred. Preparing a bid now! I'm sure my landlord won't mind if I store it out front.

I can't see an aviaiton outfit making much use of it.

What I am expecting is a NY tour operator to snatch it up, fit the undercarriage with amphibious equipment and start up doing NYC Hudson DUCK tours...

They should have just written it off. Unless some museum wants to put it up as is for a miracle on the hudson display I doubt it will ever fly again. Way to expensive to fix up for anything. mirrode thats going to cost alot as well. They would have to scrap the entire underbelly, close up the holes and fit engines on it. Its either museum piece as is or soda cans.

It was written off. The insurance company is selling it.

Best place for it: The Intrepid. Hoping they pick it up.

Ah. Guess the insurance company just wants to make a buck.

It's actually SOP. That's the whole point of it.

Why not, Hollywood may pick it up :borat:

Don't think the Intrepid has enough space for both an A320 and an orbiter. I prefer the orbiter, personally.

Take off the nose and put that in the intrepid...who cares about the rest of the aircraft! You will never be able to make money off of an entire hangar of a crashed plane that big....

It just occurred to me that such an attraction could have a simulation of the crash playing in the cockpit windows, like a first-person view of the flared nose hitting the water.

As opposed to being a business not wanting to make money?

Who doesn't like extra cash?

I wonder how much the final bid was for and who placed it.

I think that would be a great addition to the intrepid!

I'd pick it up and make a hostel out of it. It'd pay for itself.
