Anyone up for JFK this weekend? I'm down for either day, though the weather seems to favor Saturday....I'm looking to shoot Howard Beach for all its worth before they shut 31L down!

Saturday - Weather look good.... Sunday looks like rain... So who else for Saturday ??

Shane man no worries we'll hook you up. That sounds like an awesome plan, I haven't been to Bayswater yet so that'd be neat. I definitely have every intention of getting up at an ungodly hour to make sure I get all the good stuff out at HoBe presuming 31L departures are in use

I could be in for this Saturday. Haven't shot HoBe in a long time. Will have a better idea Friday.

Possible change in plans on my attendance. My Florida trip which has now been twice delayed looks like it might be back on with a departure from JFK in the morning. In fact, if I do fly tomorrow as I am hoping to do I will BBM you guys my flight (might go to RSW instead of SRQ now) and tail number so you can catch us on the bank. Wont know if I am going till an hour from current though.

JetBlue Flight 345 will be my callsign on the outbound from JFK. Push at 0816 off the gate. Hope someone nails it if it is 31 departures.

From the NYCA Site:
| Point A: Broad Channel Island
Views: Known for 31L departures. Distant view of 13R arrivals.

Directions: Get off of the Belt Parkway at Cross Bay Blvd and head south. Once over the first bridge there will be a parking lot to your RIGHT (trust us), turn into it. Make a u-turn in this parking lot and then exit the way you came in, this time going directly across to the street on the other side. You do this because you are not allowed to make a left from Cross Bay Blvd.

By public transportation, take the A train to Rockaway Blvd and then take the Q21, getting off at the first stop over the first bridge (hit the “ding” when on the bridge).

Security: NYPD and Park Police have visited fellow spotters in this area. As always, carry your ID.

Photography: You’ll need a 400mm lens here. The planes go from right to left, making a nice left bank all the way around you. Because of the big turn, you can technically get shots here at any point throughout the day. For mornings, position yourself so the any planes that turn too early don’t give you backlit shots.

Notes: Obey traffic laws, and be sure to clean up after yourself at this location. Respect those on the beach around you. Bring water, as this location gets especially hot.

Just got back from a very good day of spotting. Eric it was great hanging out. It was also nice to meet Chris, and it was good talking with you Josh. I also applaud the "EWR fugitives" for getting out and making an appearance as well.

I grabbed a bunch of new stuff for me: DHL 763W, Lan763W, AA One World 757, Avianca A319, Aeroflot A330 & the KLM Skyteam which snuck in right in the last few minutes of sunlight.

Here are my two favorites, I'll leave the others to post the rest:

Thanks for the props John, though I think I prefer "pioneers" or something that kinda reflects balls considering all 6 of us jumped out of the car with L glass and ran to the fence every time a plane came in. Six PAPD cruisers and six sketchy individuals with cameras....new record? :P
