This thing is the biggest pile of doody to come out of Washington since I've been paying attention.

I was not particularly excited about any of the plans, but at least a "public option" plan would have done something substantially different.

This plan doesn't seem to benefit anyone. It sounds like a lot of folks may end up paying more. It is clearly just being passed to score a victory vs. the GOP at any cost.

Shame on President for endorsing this deal, the deal received by the Senator from Nebraska should have caught the attention of President Obama.

Other States are going to have to pay extra since Nebraska will not be paying their fair share....

According to Paterson and Bloomberg, NY will actually be forced to close 100 clinics because the current federal funding would disappear. The money will be diverted away from states which already have extensive government-run health infrastructure, like NY, in favor of states that don't have any.

Absolutely. Obama needs this for the state of the union. He is failing badly and any shred of something positive is needed because his re-election chances are tanking. His speech will contain the same Bush and GOP bashing we have been hearing since he took office but that will only score with the far left who's vote he has already. The independents have all turned and by 2012 it will be quite easy for the GOP to get rid of him as long as they don't screw up the campaign again.

Obama has to play ball or he is dealt a huge loss. Lieberman and Nelson had Obama and the DNC by the balls. They will get whatever they want. Like Matt said this was winning at all costs. Even though this bill is disaster for this country. You are seeing first hand the DNC's hunger for power and how they will do anything to achieve it. We need to speak loud this November. Real loud.

Palin is going to be running against Obama. Bush, Obama and then Obama or Palin.. it's a disaster. Just the beginning..... System is broken, and what comes next..... don't want to think about it...

"We're going to hear an earful, but it's going to be an earful of wonderment and happiness that people waited for for a long time." —Harry Reid, responding to warnings that constituents will blast Democrats who voted for the healthcare bill when they go home for Christmas break.

What planet is this guy on?

Well he will be on the unemployment line soon. Nevada has also had it with him. I remember 3 or 4 years ago he showed up in Laughlin and the woman who built the building I live in and two strip malls on Casino drive told him off. She is one of the most respected businesswoman in the area and just had it with his crap. He really shouldn't have won last time out but Sue Lowden is very shrewd, well funded, very attractive and knows how to get things done. I see her winning quite easily and we will be rid of him. As for his insane comments it's all theatre. See Pelosi and Reid know there is a percentage of the population that actually believe this crap. I can't wait to see the farce when they try to come together on this bill. How they are going to tell us no illegal aliens will get free care etc.
