Yeah its pretty odd indeed. I assume these problems are because of budget issues and the performers don't have anything finalized yet. Maybe Steve can help us clear this up.

Thanks for putting me on the spot!

Chuck Aaron is listed on the Jones Beach Airshow website, so I'm thinking he'll be there.

Can't say I'm surprised about Ed Hamill losing sponsorship, since Bill Braack also lost his AFR sponsorship for the jet car. I suppose it has to do with budget cutbacks... don't quote me on it because I don't even know myself, but I would imagine that's the reason. John Klatt seems to be ANG-sponsored, so that's good.

Just wait until you see Kirby Chambliss fly his airshow performance!

To be honest I do not believe in this all budget BS.... anyway Ed Hamill will be introduced probably many times this year as a Air Force Reserve cuz he always been AFR Bi Plane pilot :))

I will be streaming scanner audio and will have frequency guides online for the airshow.

The frequency guides is a cut down version of the Monitoring Times wrap-up, plus some MilComm monitoring post updates, that are filtered down to only those performing at the beach.

I enjoy listening to the practice runs while shooting.. it usually give you an edge since you can kind of hear what direction the performers are coming from.

I'll update this thread with a link when I have the lists finalized.

Looking forward to the show!

Hi Guys,
I hope all is well and I always seem to come here around this time of the year and I am sure you know why,
Well this year when I logged in I found myself linking to the "AI2010 NYC Ramp Tours for August - BUY TIX NOW" post!
http://nycaviation.com/forum/ai2010-nyc ... 18728.html (http://nycaviation.com/forum/ai2010-nyc-ramp-tours-for-august-buy-tix-now-t18728.html)
Next thing I know I am purchasing a Registration Form & Tour package & now getting totally psyched fot that!! Would like
to maybe see who here is going in or around July... would like to meet up.

Anyway, I took a lot of shots myself last year at FRG on Thursday. Caught a lot of stuff and was really nice later in the day to enjoy a frostie in Applebees only to be greeted by the arrival of the snowbirds as we walked out! After that the A10's landed and I was right in there...
Glad to see this thread running and look forward to it.

Just got this NOTAM emailed to me today:

To: Republic Airport Tenants & Users/Operators

From: John P. Arancio

Assistant Airport Manager

Date: April 27, 2010

RE: Runway 14/32 Closure-Friday, April 30th

The purpose of this memorandum is to notify all tenants of the temporary closure of Runway 14/32 on Friday, April 30, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This closure is necessary in order to conduct a survey for the installation of temporary arresting gear on Runway 14/32. The installation of this equipment is required to accommodate military aircraft based at Republic Airport during the 2010 Memorial Day Air Show. Please note that Runway 1/19 will be open and fully available during this time.

Getting closer!! :D

Hey all.

I was really planning on seeing the show this year on the Saturday, but alas, that won't happen.

So my only chance at any action falls on the Saturday.

For those that have gone on the Friday practice show, do the Blues/Tbirds usually go on in the early afternoon after 1 PM?

Hey all.
For those that have gone on the Friday practice show, do the Blues/Tbirds usually go on in the early afternoon after 1 PM?

Except for one time a few years ago when it rained on Friday and the practice show was cancelled most of the
performers fly at the practice show. In fact last year a few posters on this board kept writing that the TBirds
wouldnt fly the FRiday practice show.....but they did.
The practice show is great....no traffic, free admission and the beach empty!!! :D :D

Any update on warbird action at this years show? I mean besides the AAM regulars?

I heard a rumor about a Spitfire, and a few Corsairs that will split there time between Jones and the Gathering up in BDR.

Pete

Pete, I think it was posted several pages back - there will be two Corsairs at the show, "Skyboss", which belongs to the AAM, as well as Tom Duffy and his Corsair, "Marine's Dream" coming in for the show. Both will fly over the beach on Saturday, then head up to Bridgeport for the Corsair gathering, returning to FRG Saturday night. They will repeat that schedule on Sunday.

The rumors about a Spitfire are a little off the mark - there will be a Spitfire at the AAM over Labor Day weekend, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, it will not be here for the Memorial Day show.

Any update on warbird action at this years show? I mean besides the AAM regulars?

I heard a rumor about a Spitfire, and a few Corsairs that will split there time between Jones and the Gathering up in BDR.

Julie Clark will be flying at the Jones Beach Airshow this year and back on May 7th
in 1964 her father was the Captain of the Pacific Airline Flight 773 that crashed!!
As per the story below posted by Phil here on NYCAviation:

1964 – Pacific Air Lines Flight 773 crashes in San Ramon California after a suicidal passenger shoots both pilots in-flight. Francisco Gonzales, having financial and marital problems, purchased a .357 Smith & Wesson revolver and even notified friends and family that he’d be dying on May 6th or May 7th. He purchased a $105,000 insurance policy at Stockton Airport (SCK) before boarding the Fokker F-27 Friendship (N2770R) bound for Reno, Nevada. A few minutes after reaching their assigned altitude of 5,000ft, a sound is heard on the radio and the aircraft disappears from radar. The final transmission is determined by investigators to be the First Officer saying “Skipper’s shot. We’ve been shot. I was trying to help.” All 44 on the aircraft perish. The daughter of the the Captain, Julie Clark, goes on to become one of the first female airline Captains herself for Hughes Airwest and Northwest Airlines, and then going on to become an aerobatic pilot.

The protesters strike back!

The significance of Memorial Day is to honor those who have made the supreme sacrifice in the service of their country. I find it offensive that the Bethpage FCU would host such a grotesque exhibition of military might that does nothing to memorialize the fallen and glorifies war. Honor the dead! Heal the wounded! End War!

These people never fail.

I do respect that they have an opinion though.

Actually, I really enjoyed the B-1 a few years back. If I remember correctly, we originally had an F-117 or B-2 that year and it got canceled last minute. Anyone else remember that?
"I remember the B1 doing a full afterburner pass on Saturday, it was a hazy day, couldnt get a good focus on him, I looked down for a second , and the guy next to me yelled did you see that? I said what, He said the B1 blew some fuel out the back and lit it with the afterburners, that I didnt see, but I also heard he did an unauthorized climb and pissed off the local air controllers, would love to see the B1's back they kick butt, got to be the sexiest lookin beast in the inventory"

Well since it is next week there shouldnt be any problems. Where are they closing it from? Conklin to 109? Or from
Sheltair to 109 along the cemetary/runway road? Hopefully the are paving the shoulders on both sides. That would
be great.

Honestly I don't know someone said they just saw signs. My concern is that since the weather next week is supposed to be iffy it will delay the work and it will be on airshow week. Even if you don't plan to spot on New Highway it would make the surrounding areas congested.

I would to believe they are doing this now because of the airshow and the subsequent heavy traffic on that
road. If they start tomorrow (the 14th) then they actually have close to two weeks to finish the project and I
dont see the weather being that much of a hindrance.

Yeah I guess I was thinking about the worst case scenario. I guess this explains the construction markers.

I do have a question though. Last year I did most of my spotting from New Highway and since most of the planes besides the T-birds were using 19 I found out I had a somewhat better view from the main terminal. So my question is where is it better to spot? New Highway or the terminal?

Saw on Newsday that they will be charging to get in on the Friday of the practice show for the first time. The fee will be $8.
Oh well. But as long as the "headliners" show up it is still better than dealing with the crowds Sat/Sun.

I don't think its all that bad going on Sat or Sun. Leaving an hour AFTER the show dramatically decreases the amount of traffic. I'm not surprised they started charging though because they just canceled the fireworks show.

Parkgoers who have driven to Jones Beach on the Friday before the Memorial Day weekend the past seven years to see a free preview of the air show will be in for an unpleasant surprise this year:

The dress rehearsal will now cost them $8 per car.

Facing a massive budget cut and possible facility closings, the state parks agency will be imposing the weekday entrance fee for the first time. Last year about 30,000 people went to the park on that Friday in 5,500 cars. The entrance fee could generate $44,000 this year.

"We have seen an increase each year since we've been hosting the air show because the public has become aware that there is a practice on that Friday," said George Gorman Jr., deputy regional director of the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. "We wanted to capture that potential revenue."

The agency doesn't publicize the practice day because it is not guaranteed to occur and even when it is held, some participants, including the headlining precision pilots of the Navy's Blue Angels or the Air Force's Thunderbirds, don't always show up.

On each of the weekend days, the crowd averages about 200,000 for the Bethpage Federal Credit Union Air Show and the event generates a profit that is supposed to be used for park capital projects - but that is not always the case. This year the entrance fee will be $10, up $2 from last year, because of higher beach fees imposed as part of the governor's proposed budget. The fee jumps $2 on Memorial Day weekend, when lifeguards begin protecting the beaches.

The weekend air show is canceled in event of bad weather but the $8 fee will be in effect on Friday unless the weather is so bad that it does not pay to put staff in place to collect the fee, Gorman said.

Not surprisingly, the new fee is not popular.

"It would be more justifiable if they would give us a sense that they would be working to keep the parks open with revenues they derive from special opportunities like this," said Assemb. Steven Englebright (D-Setauket), chairman of the Tourism and Parks Committee.

Malcolm MacKay of Brooklyn, head of the Jones Beach Rescue Organization, a new support group, said "We really regret this extra charge, but on the other hand we recognize the state is in terrible financial condition."

Hey if they actually use it for the beach let them charge $8. The beach has been going downhill and I would like to see it as it was when I was a kid. Clean sand, a far walk to the water's edge and a good looking boardwalk.

I'm with you. I don't mind paying if it's going to the right place. It encourages the organizers to strive to make the show bigger & better every year, which for the most part has happened.

After the turnout to last years practice, I'm not surprised they decided to charge though. There were a ton of people at the beach last year on Friday and they could have pocketed thousands of $$ if they had charged that day. Not to mention, I'm sure they didn't make as much as they wanted to on Sunday because of the crappy weather. The year before, the lots were at capacity by 10am.

The fireworks thing is the doing of the Park Police. Due to budget cuts, they felt that they wouldn't have enough personal on hand to secure the event so they canceled it.

I think there is a lot more then meets the eye here. I think its politics at its best. They cancel something many LI'ers love (The Fireworks) and now people will be more upset. If the parks dept says "its because of budget cuts and not enough Parks Police", then people may try and do whatever they can to get the Parks budget restored.

The ONLY difference I see between the Air Show and the Fireworks is that there may be a little more SCPD and NCPD available to support the Parks Police for Air Show weekend. That being said, both weekends are a high Drunk Driver ratio, and all police should be out in full force, so who knows.

Hello,
I'm new here, however, I have been following this topic for a while. I didn't see any mention of anything with regards to fighter jets coming in to Republic today, however 2 came in a few minutes to 4. I took a ride over to the airport to see them, however, I was unable to find them, plus they have New Highway blocked off for construction. Any idea why they're here? It seems a little early for the Air Show.
Thanks,

The plane got in last night around 8pm.

From the looks of the route, he was dodging weather the whole way up from LA.

Someone said that they saw Ed Hamill's bi-plane flying around at 1:30. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

It wasnt a bi-plane but someones red sports plane was buzzing the skies over FRG. I saw it just as it was
being pushed into the hangar by Shakalis Aviation over by 109. I've seen this plane before but its ID escapes
me at the moment.
OK just did quick research and I believe it was David Windmiller and his plane.

Also New Highway is open. Apparently the crews work Mon-Fri 7AM to 5PM.

And I was stopped at the light at Conklin/110 and N355AG fully hooked up with nose ball camera took off
and flew slow and low north along 110 heading out eventually NW. Looked very cool. 8)

They said it was an all red plane and I guess they assumed it was Ed Hamill because he just came in thats why I questioned it here. So it was probably David Windmiller.

At last year's show, Thunderbird pilot Maj. John Baum visited my school, hopefully my school can set up another assembly featuring a performer from this year's airshow. I always love this time of the year, it's awesome sitting in class taking a test...only for it to be disrupted by a loud roar as the Thunderbirds/Blue Angels fly over as they land at Republic.

First off, let me introduce myself to the lovely people here at NYCA. My name is Rob, I live approximately 2 miles from runway 32, just south of Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst. I'm only 17, so you will have to bear with my limited knowledge of aircraft...but I like to think I'm still an aviation enthusiast at heart :) I live pretty much directly in line with the final approach to runway 32, so this time of the year is always awesome. My friends think I'm a weirdo because I sit at my window while LiveATC.net plays and I see the planes coming in to land..but I gotta tell you...it was awesome hearing Thunderbird 7 chat with the ATC last year...I managed to get a few recordings, if I get the chance would it be cool to post them here?

I ahvent been to Jones Beach in ages. What field do we go to?

moose135

I usually park in Field 4, then take the walkway under Ocean Parkway and set up on the boardwalk near the water tower. You can park in Field 6, on the ocean side, but it is near the end of the show line, and you have a bit of a walk to show center.

I have posted my frequency list for 2010 Jones Beach Air Show. Please visit http://www.w2lie.net/airshow for the full list.

If you see a frequency or performer who isn't listed, please forward me the info (http://www.w2lie.net/e107_plugins/contactform_menu/contactform.php?contact).

For the 5th year running, you will be able to listen on line to the Air Show at Jones Beach at w2lie.net. The audio will be running on my "Specialty" feed.

The live feed is will be launched on May 24th - so that you may *hopefully* hear the Blue Angels come into Republic Airport (Farmingdale, NY).

I will also be archiving the audio from the air show, and hope to put it on line when I get a chance.

I also hope to capture the USMC Demo at Eisenhower Park on the live feed this year.

To keep up to date on any changes to the frequency list or live feed, please visit the forum thread (http://www.w2lie.net/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?6913) at w2lie.net.

I think I mentioned this about 20 pages ago, if the Bue Angels follow their regular show routine, they will practice Thursday afternoon, probably 2:00-3:00PM.

I realize they have two other events in the region to fly over, but they generally try to get two practice days in at a show location.

I think I mentioned this about 20 pages ago, if the Bue Angels follow their regular show routine, they will practice Thursday afternoon, probably 2:00-3:00PM.

I realize they have two other events in the region to fly over, but they generally try to get two practice days in at a show location.
Yeah you're right. If I remember correctly the practiced two days.

If anybody (even all you lurkers) have any information please post it here or email [email protected]

EDIT- John, it looks like my GMT to EST time conversion was wrong

Yeah, that Ferry Pilot is usually Brian!

Chris & I were there last year the Monday after the show and were speaking with him briefly. He said Sean usually heads out shortly after finishing his flights.

It was cool to see them transit last year though with all 3 Oracle Planes departing together.

Hey Guys! Anyone know where the USMC MAGTF demo is going to be? Is it at the beach or what?

There is one at FRG Saturday afternoon but for better viewing there will be one at Eisenhower Park Saturday starting
at 10AM. I believe they land and you can get up close and personal after the demo.

Gerard, you are correct.. After the demo, they land the choppers and you can walk up and tour them if you wish. The lines are usually pretty long.

My Live Scanner Feeds are set to launch 5/24 at 7am! If you listen with WINAMP or iTunes, you will see the Alpha Tags from the scanner, so you know what you are listening to. If you visit the website from your iPhone, you can listen to the stream in the background - while at the Air Show ;)

As of now, I have FRG Tower to keep the scanner alive. As we get closer to Thursday, I will remove some of the Republic Frequencies..

My Airshow scan list is: http://www.w2lie.net/airshow
I will be updating my Twitter Status if I find new frequencies: http://www.twitter.com/w2lie

To listen to the feed, visit my site: http://www.w2lie.net

All the audio from the scanner is being ARCHIVED! I will have to upload the last 2 years of audio to the site this week.

Enjoy the show!

Make sure to leave 128.25 active, you may even want to set the priority for it. That is FRG's Clearance Delivery freq, but for the past few years it's been active as airboss freq.

Here is a guide I made for some of the first time spotters at FRG during airshow week.

Top ten tips for spotting at Republic Airport during airshow week

1.Food/Water: Even if you plan to stay for a short amount of time it wouldn't be a bad idea to pack water and some food. If you plan to stay for the whole day it is suggested that you pack sufficient food and water. The surrounding area has several "fast food" places and restaurants but if you have a good spot, it would be a shame to give it up.

2.Sun Protection: One thing most people overlook is sun protection. At Republic Airport shade is minimal and exposure to the sun will cause bad burns, it is suggested that you wear sunscreen and a hat.

3.Locations: There a several places to spot at Republic Airport for details on each location read Nycaviation's Republic Airport Plane Spotting Guide. (http://nycaviation.com/spotting-guides/frg/)

4.Situational awareness: Republic Airport gets crowded during airshow week, it is a VERY good idea to make sure you know what is going on around you at all times to avoid careless accidents.

5.Law Enforcement: Republic Airport is known to be a spotter friendly airport, but remember to always respect and follow orders of law enforcement.

6.Intel: You can download the flying schedule off here (http://sample.nyasinfo.com/2010%20Republic%20Airport%20General%20info.docx) or you can do the more eco friendly option and go to http://nyasinfo.com on your mobile device.

7.Supplies: Here are some recommended supplies that I suggest you bring with you: ID,Cash,Camera,Binoculars , scanner, Food/Water, and Intel.

8.Ear Protection: The jets may get quite loud, it is suggested that you use ear protection especially for younger children.

9.Connections: I will do my best to keep everyone filled in on the most current info regarding the airshow, you can go to http://nyasinfo.com on your mobile device for airshow info and I will also update my twitter (http://www.twitter.com/nyasinfo) instantly from FRG. You can also get the tweets sent directly to your desktop or mobile device by using Tweet Deck. (http://www.tweetdeck.com/)Also you can text "follow nyasinfo" to 40404 and get live updates sent to your phone via SMS text message.

10.Have Fun!: Above all have fun and enjoy yourself!

Awesome shots man! Quick question...as you gain altitude departing from Republic...is NYC visible from Farmingdale on a clear day?

Yes...but it better be really Really REALLY clear and you better have awesome eyesite! You can clearly see it from the Wantaugh parkway on a so so day while on the bridge heading north from Jones Beach. You can also clearly see the Jones Beach Needle from Robert Moses bridge while doing 60mph.

Yes, I have been told I have great eyes. Possible yes...for me, but everyone is different and not very many people have my "superman eye's" (as my last eye doctor called them!)

pictures of NYC from a T-6 over Robert Moses (more east than KFRG)

Hey neighbor,

You sure you dont mean WEST? At any rate, I think you're right...but its on the the summit of that ramp onto the LIE from the Northern. Is that what you mean?

My mistake Mirrodie. It's heading WEST on the NSP just before the Sunnyside blvd exit. The water tower on top of Jayne's hill by your house gives a great view too, but that was 20 years ago and can't seem to recall...LOL! Hope you get some free time to take in the sights this week.

Coming over the bridge on the Wantagh to Jones Beach on a clear day you can see the skyline. And sadly the days
after 9/11 you can still see the smoke coming from the pile while on Ocean Pkwy at Jones Beach. :(

Who the hell you calling MEDIA???? It is RED BULL EDGE AND SEAN TUCKER taking Derf!
It could be a little earlier.... I would say between 5-7 and we are just going out to the beach and not to NYC but
as always things WILL change as airshow is ALWAYS fluid.

(it was cool when the asked me when I wanted to do it... Stand back, my big head is about to pop!!!)

Seriously, the trip to NYC was an incredible honor and the kind words from Sean, his team and everyone at the airport, my
good friends here, Friends at the AAM, OPS, and my family..... It is just unreal. I would rather shoot airshow at
NY with my Friends at the AAM then ANYTHING ELSE! Hawaii, or Everest is just nothing compared to what I did yesterday
and all of you made me feel that I deserved to do it. You are all true friends and I look forward to a weekend of Magic
with all of you. Thank you for all the kind words. NOW LETS HAVE SOME FUN!!!!

When the Blue angels come in on thursday morning, which direction will they be coming from?

ken
It depends... They are going to land on either 14 or 32, but it will depend on the winds, and what the team decides. Two years ago, based on winds, we were sure they were going to land 14, coming over Rt 110 - a bunch of us were staked out near the movie theater, waiting for them to fly over the top of us. They checked in with tower, and were cleared to land on 32 :(

It did get me one of my favorite shots from that year's show, though...

Moose, Did you take that from the end of 32 looking towards 14? Your aerial shots of the sabre (from last year I think) were one of my favorites!

Actually George, it was on the 14 approach end, at the fence on Rt 110. And thanks, I love how that Saber shot turned out - pure luck, btw - I think it was from 2007.

Wait, so those planes on the "unconfirmed" list.....do we think they will do a fly by?

That is up to the pilot...usually No as they are landing after a long flight....but that is up to the pilot.

.............What preparations do you go through.........

When the Blue angels come in on thursday morning, which direction will they be coming from?

ken

They will be coming from above....look up.
Sorry cheap sarcastic shot. Had to be taken.

Seriously though, like Moose said, it's a crap-shoot until they are on final. The best thing you can do is pick a spot, and pray. Moose thought he had it all figured out, they landed the other direction, and yet, he still got a killer shot. Just be prepared to shoot, and don't get discouraged. They are here all weekend.

Actually, if you don't plan on taking ground to air pictures parking on the side of New Highway gives you the best of both worlds. You can see them in the air and you can see them taxi!

As long as those Dopes from Burn Notice aren't shooting the day of their arrival, we should be good

Last year on Thunderbird arrival day, they had the entire Terminal parking lot closed for the production trailers. I said to one of the PA's, "You know what today is right?" and he said, "Yeah, we found out the hard way." :P

Hi all,

Been following this forum the past few weeks. Just registered and this is my first post. Wondering where the CF-18 is Going to stay at FRG after its Arrival this afternoon. On the Terminal Side with Blue angels or over by Museum Hanger? Thanks for all the great info.

It will be parked near the museum. The terminal area is reserved for the Blue Angels.

Welcome to NYCA :borat:

Hello All, I've been listening to the scanner, and hear Blue Angel #7 was by the hudson river and circling the statue of liberty for the media, then coming back to republic.

Wait, so those planes on the "unconfirmed" list.....do we think they will do a fly by?

That is up to the pilot...usually No as they are landing after a long flight....but that is up to the pilot.

.............What preparations do you go through.........

Hey Fred,
BTW, Do you have any idea yet what people from the TV news stations or other
Media types have been selected to go up with the Blue Angels tomorrow ????
Last year it was pretty funny when Stephen Cobert went up with the T-birds at FRG

Sorry folks, but today while I was waiting for Blue Angel #7 with the family a car hit the lip and struck my brother and aunt and hit the car and narrowly missed me. Thankfully they are both in stable condition. Because of this information on the first page may be out of date and I probably will not be able to make it back to the airport to provide people with live updates.

I would also like to thank Fred, the photographer with the camo lens( sorry I think I forgot your name), the two off duty EMT's, and all the people who called 911. I don't know what we would have done without you guys.

I would also like to thank the Dept. of Homeland Security,SCPD, and the East Farmingdale Fire Dept. for responding quickly and getting everyone to safety.

Yup, fortunately every thing that could went right in a crappy situation like that happened.

You're welcome I enjoyed letting everyone in on the updates. Unfortunately I will probably be unable to make it back to the airport because of everything but I hope everyone enjoys the show and stays safe.

Even in the best of times that road is dangerous. Thankfully they werent seriously hurt. And let this be a
lesson to all. Be CAREFUL, Pay ATTENTION, drive SLOWLY!! There will be a hordes of people driving
around Republic this weekend and lots of them probably have never experienced the wonderment of New
Highway. Lets be safe and enjoy what is shaping up to be a great weekend.
Falcon I hope your family recovers quickly and I hope you get a chance to see some of the action. After ALL
the hard work you have put in it would definitely SUCK if you get shutout!!!

Glad to hear everyone's okay. I fear New Highway every time I'm on it or next to it because I'm sure some dumb**** is going to scream on by trying to break the sound barrier with his/her car.

Yeah after this accident I can't stress the importance of being aware whether you are the driver or the spectator. And I hope all of you enjoy the events lined up for this weekend I was able to enjoy myself and get some nice pics(which ill post later).

Also I hopefully ill still make it to the show and ill still try to update you guys the best I can.

Thank you everyone for your kind words.

EDIT-
Both have been discharged from the hospital.

My brother suffered a minor back injury as well as some bruses and scratches.

My aunt suffered a laceration and major bruses.

Naturally, both of them are in pain and shooken up but its not bad considering what could have happened.

Ken,

Glad you Aunt and brother are Ok.. When I saw you in the mirror my first thought was that you were pinned between the cars. Glad there was an EMT and a fireman there watching.

Thanks for all the updates you posted.

Glad everyone is ok.

Almost saw a similar situation when the f-18 came in. Some guy tried to pass 3 cars heading north bound on New Highway. He had gone into the opposite lane and almost took a few cars with him as he must have been going 80mph.
