Well as we all know by now President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. Now while that makes nice add to his resume I'm totally at a loss to why he deserved to win this award??? All I keep reading is that his "efforts" (note not "RESULTS") towards Middle East Peace is the reason he was awarded this honor.

Now can someone tell me what has he done towards Mid East peace? The Iraqi pull out was planned under Bush, we aren't leaving Afghanistan anytime soon, and Libya and Iran are laughing at us. Oh and we alienated our closet ally Israel. btw on the same day he got this award they were rioting in the streets of Jerusalem.

I'm not bashing Obama for winning this at all...but since when does only effort take precedent over results? President Bush while I'm not a huge fan of put in place vast humanitarian programs all throughout Africa. His efforts have saved tens of thousands of life's and greatly improved living conditions there. His efforts turned into real results but we don't see him getting the award.

In a way I was surprised but in a way I wasn't. The people associated with this prize share Obama's far left views and are very passive when it comes to war. Again you are dealing with people that probably for the most part don't even understand terrorism and actually could probably care less about Israel. In addition to hating Bush for taking a stand against radical Islam. What is scary is Sweden and Norway actually believe you can negotiate with terrorists but forget that terrorists only understand one thing and that is force. Obama's choice further has eroded the award which has been given to some people that were suspect at best. In addition to making Obama even more too big to fail. What is worse now if Obama approves more troops for Afghanistan he will look bad and if he doesn't he will look weak. You guys voted for a persona and not a person and it's getting totally out of control. We need some leadership and we need this guy to actually start doing something. The last 10 months has been a disaster and it with Pelosi on a suicide mission I hope 2010' gets here awfully fast.

People are taking this event to rip Obama, when we should really be ripping those that voted for this award. This was not Obama's choice, and I'm sure he's reluctant oto take it.

If Bush truly wanted to take a stand against radical Islam, he should have gone after Saudi Arabia. They're by far the biggest financiers of Islamic terrorism on the planet.

I agree with Nick.

We voted on persona, after 8 years of a guy who could not speak.

McCain lost first with Palin and then on his "the economy is strong" precursor to the bank failures. While you say we voted with persona, I can't really say I could have voted for McCain in spite of the glaring 2 notes up above. McCain was a HUGE consideration for me but the choice of Palin, as well as that remark which showed how completely out of touch McCain was, was what LIST him the election.

Note this Nick: Obama didn't WIN the election....McCain LOST it.

We voted on guy hoping to restore diplomatic ties that were broken under Bush. The USA was being laughed at long before Obama was elected. And was more hated.

Obama is being pulled far left and has to swing back to what got him elected. Pelosi should be taken care of by the mob.

I AM very annoyed with Obama. I need him to put on his best TR. He needs to continue to speak softly.....and he's gotta that big stick. But damn it, start using it.

Your right I forgot, hell Rudy too. He really should be in the White House right now and we wouldn't have Iran acting like this but did he ever run a campaign that totally sucked. What is even better is Rudy can win in 2012'. If he does the right things.

Nick...drop the Rudy love..he's not going to run for the White house in 2012, he blew it last year. He'll more then likely run for Senate when Hildebrand's seat is up.

Not at all. Why would he want that when he could more easily beat Cuomo and become NY governor? If he gets that job done I think he most certainly runs in 2012.

He's not going to beat Cuomo and he knows it. He'll run for Senate, mark my words.

Would be a tough election head to head with Cuomo but I think with the right approach and campaign he could win. Not to mention a Senator is a lawmaker and not a leader. Rudy is a leader and tough on crime and would be good for terrorism as we are seeing Iran basically laugh at Obama and Hillary now as we slide deeper into some sort if intervention with them in the future.

Maybe popular opinion of Rudy is different out east, but in the city, many people have all but forgotten the good things he did. Sad but true, which is why he wouldn't beat Cuomo. If he runs against Gillebrand his only advantage would be name recognition because there's not a huge gap on issues.

President Obama would be a great man if he refused to accept the award, the fact that he is accepting the award for any reason makes him a weak man.....

Double edge sword......acceptance entails that he is working still, working for the award.

And if he had turned it down, what would I have read and heard from the Conservatives?

"You see!!! He didnt accept the award and therefore ADMITS he is a failure." I dont envy the guy.

I don't, President Obama could have had his name withdrawn when he was told that he was nominated.

...apparently the nominations were done in early February. In other words, he was nominated after being in office less than 30 days! What a crock!

Yasser Arafat won The Nobel Peace Prize 1994 for his "...efforts to create peace in the Middle East".

Its not impossible to imagine Adolf Hitler being nominated "pre-Holocaust" if the committee's sensibilities that obtain today existed back then.

I am sure this award comes with something nice to put on Obama's mantle or in his trophy case, but its a non-issue either way to me.... It'd be nice of Obama can pull a rabbit out of a hat at some point down the road with some sort of genuine understanding with North Korea or Iran, or between the Palestinians and Israelis, but for him to succeed, there are a number of ruthless foreign entitles and lockstep savages that would need to have just the right epiphany, and coincidentally coupled with US foreign policy not suffering a bout of hubris, or alternately, undue weakness.

Obama's influence will be challenged on even his own side of that equation.

Maybe someday...
