I've had a terrible time at Oceana the past two years and was planning on skipping it this year, but with the Snowbirds on board, I think I may wind up going.

Terrible time in Oceana ?? wow... didn't expec that... everyone told me that Oceana is a great Air Show and "must be there" so I decided to add this Air Show to my calendar... so far opinions are not bad and this year looks good... I cant wait to see snowbirds... I know that F22 Raptor Demo has been canceled... They are going to Nevada I think... this is one of the teams I was very excited to see... ohh welll... maybe next time :) anyway... Im going to VA Saturday morning and will stay there for 2 days... this year there will be no Beach Blast under Oceana shield, cuz of the probably cold weather so some charity organization decided to setup a beach party :) with couple fly overs... Hope to see a good show, hope to see some of the NYers !

i'd love to come down just to see the USN legacy flight, snowbirds and the F-4.... but alas, real-world responsibilities beckon. adulthood sucks!

I'll be there Thursday-Sunday. I've gone to Oceana for their airshows for every year since 2002 (except for 2003) and each show has been spectacular. The lineup is too big for a show of its caliber - especially for having both the Blues and Snowbirds!

Outstanding work Chris! The Blue Angel shot with the fireballs in the background is sick.

Thank you for all good words ! Its very important to me, Im new for aviation photography, its my second year as a "air show" photographer couple days ago I did my first airliners on LGA i JFK.... Im very happy that I did make it ! Weather was more than nasty... cold, wet.... ceiling 800-1100 feet.... lots of breaks, probably 75% of the show was canceled cuz of the weather condition.... unfortunately pictures are not the quality I wish to have... high ISO, poor light, problem with focusing.... but I was trying to do my best.....

That Blue Angel on the fire ball bacground is kind of lucky picture :) those fire balls and whole pyrotechnic stuff was ready for Air Power Demonstration but weather didn't met minimum requirements for such a formations flights and they decided to blow out everything.... effect was amazing was around 45 degrees there and when they start pyro temperature get to the very nice level for about 5 minuts was pretty worm there.... was much more explosions but just that one was right behind the Blue Angel.... I missed good moment to shoot f15 Eagle on the fire wall background.... but nobody expected pyro at the time... on my flickr account you can find much more pictures, of course there is very similar shots... its over 300 pictures.... than you one more time for a good word it means a lot to me... hope to show here on nycaviation pictures from the next air show season, Im planning at least 15 shows so hope to shoot something special....

Oceana the world's largest "Hornet's Nest" I was planning to attend Oceana this year but my plans fell through. Lat time I was there was '06 for the last Tomcat flight/demo.

It is a great show but in my opinion Rhode Island is just as good.

Rhode Island is a great Air Show, but Oceana is probably the biggest "military" Air Show in the country.... for me every Air Show is same good and Im always enjoy rain or sun... I love it :) I can't wait for middle of december when the big groups will have the schedules ready... then I can start planning next season :) right now Im sure I will try to see 5 shows: Andrews, Dover or McGuire, Ocean City MD, Atlantic City NJ, Oceana... and maybe Dayton and Jones Beach.... just a 8 month of break :)))
