Pace Airlines Joins the long list of defunct airlines.

Looks like we lost another operator of the 737-200 series. If I am correct the last PAX operators are Songbird/Sky King and cargo is Amerijet now.

One thing that was great about Pace was they gave photogs in the pre 2000s a chance to get lots of sports charters painted up in team liveries, unlike what we have now. Also Hooters Air also flew under their callsign.

Didn't see that one coming, but lately their planes didn't look like airline aircraft, more like corporate jets anyways

Wouldn't be surprised if some new airline picks up their business model pretty soon.

But just when I thought there wouldn't be any new players in the charter scene there's Vision Air, with a somewhat decent livery and all.

Thats true,
I hope someone gets into leasing the planes and having the painted in the teams liveries. Its not fun seeing corporate charters flying nondescript
aircraft for these teams. Now it seems its either that or the airlines are flying them around now.

Doesnt Amerijet only use 727s and just recently acquired some 76s?

and pace is one of many companies that was screwed over by directair.

just off the top of my head, and this is all hear-say I can think of Pace, XL, Virgin America and Delta (for ground handling) and USA Jet isn't far behind (lets hope not atleast)

Sierra Pacific Airlines runs charter flights through BFI to/from Bozeman, MT and Juneau, AK I believe as well using a 737-200.

I think NW is doing the NBA charters now with the "very exciting" A319, after Champion way the way of the dodo :(

Skyking is starting to lag behind with fewer flights in competition from Aerosur, Allegiant and Vision air on the Cuba charters. So I wouldn't be surprised if they too went under.

I'm sure he meant to say Ameristar. There have been a few, rare Sierra Pacific 732 sightings here in Florida. Don't they do conair flights like that all-white MD-80 that's seen once in a while?

XL? You mean Xtra? :D

They arrested the CEO of Pace today.

and Mayi, check this out 'The airline was established in 1987 as Casino Express Airways, and started operations in 1989. The airline changed its name to Xtra Airways on December 8, 2005,[2] as a reflection of the purchase of 19% interest in the company by the parent company of the British travel company XL Airways.'
