View Full Version : What Airline Would You Bring To Your Airport?

If you could choose any airline to operate to your home airport...which would it be and why?

There's a catch; the aircraft would need to actually be able to operate there in terms of runway and handling. Be realistic...just because a light 747 can land and takeoff on 7,000ft doesn't mean it can go into LGA, etc.

For me, it would definitely be Gulf Air to JFK. Their basic scheme is gorgeous and they even have a few nice special ones. I'd probably prefer an A330 for it, but their 767s, 777s and A340s are all the bee's knees.

I'd like to see Kenya Airways begin NBO-ATL service with the 777 - a prospect not so far fetched since they are now a Skyteam associate member.

It would be great to either see a return of Continental to SRQ with 737's to EWR and IAH or since it is entirely supportable a British charter carrier. (large British population in the winter on the west coast)

I'd love it if Continental came to SWF with a direct flight to SJU on the 737. Jet Blue offers this route with a connection in FLL but there is a market for a direct flight.

Phil, when Gulf leased their 777 fleet they had nonstop flights to JFK in mind but since they will be returning them soon I'm not sure what their future plans are.

on second though, i'd love to be able to fly either FRG or LGA nonstop to SNS or MRY. it makes no difference to me who operates it as long as i get on the plane and go...

then again, a G-IV would be nice.

Phil:
Without committing to an answer(for obivious reasons lol) it would be interesting if Southwest came here.

Given that my home airport is Washington-National/DCA, nothing is simple, so nonwithstanding slots and perimeter issues, I'd like to see, in order:
1.) Virgin America
2.) Porter
3.) JetBlue

For my former home airport of Trenton/TTN, I'm still angry* that there was too much local opposition to expanding the terminal to the point where Southwest would have become viable, but they would have been a good fit. Now that AirTran is pulling out of EWR, though... I bet they could do just fine with 2xATL and 1 or 2xMCO or FLL.

* I still won't vote for the County Freeholders who were anti-expansion

I would love to see some Middle East carriers come into Seattle, specifically:

1. Etihad A340's - Want to catch a shot of the F1 scheme
2. Gulf Air - Great colors that I want to see in person and not just drool over pictures
3. Qatar - Just love their scheme

Writing this I realize I really need to get out to JFK sometime!

Slot issues (and MCO) aside, would love to see JetBlue at DAB. Would probably pull the fares down and breathe life into this tiny airport once again.

I think you're gonna see jetBlue start service in DCA within the next couple of years. I think thats next on their agenda, besides increasing service to SFO. :)(From JFK/BOS)

Well considering I'm closest to ISP, and SWA has the stranglehold there...I'd like to see a few mainline COA flights. I do like SWA, and aside from the 2 or 3 Piedmont Dash-8's that operate there, there is no other commercial service.

If I could really dream, I'd also like to see Porter or another LCC from Canada visit the Island.
