Tomorrow our esteemed Gov will be at JFK to break ground on the reconstruction of the new 31L/13R. Construction will begin soon afterward.

And Hobe shots. The runway isn't being closed tomorrow just the ground breaking.

Breaking ground--is that anything like breaking wind? Probably if the government has anything to do with it.

well there is a saying. "it is better to break ground and head into the wind, than to break wind and head into the ground..."

When does the construction begin. I am in and out of JFK twice this month. Down to SRQ next Wed than to Mo bay the following week.

The runway won't actually be closed until March. No idea why they're staging the groundbreaking today.

Because site prepration begins in Aug. The construction area is going to be walled off from the AOA so that trucks can more freely without escort like they do now. This will allow the free flow of material to and from the site.

31L is referred to as the bay RWY?
