I want to pass this along, as some folks here expressed an interest in this in the past. This Saturday, March 28, the Long Island Scale Model Society (of which I am an officer) will be holding RepLIcon XXIV, our 24th annual plastic model show and contest. The show is at the Freeport Recreation Center, 130 East Merrick Road, Freeport, just west of the Meadowbrook Parkway. The show is open from 9am to 4pm.

We will be featuring over 40 contest categories for models, and have sold out (and then kept adding...) vendor space, we currently will have 75 vendor tables, selling kits, diecasts, supplies, tools, and just about anything else you need for models.

We have more information about the show here:

And here are some photos from last year's show:

For some reason :D I've become the club photographer. If you make it down to the show, be sure to stop by and see me - you can't miss my set up:

I want to pass along some photos from Saturday's show - it was one of the most successful in our club history, with a large group of visitors, some outstanding work on display in the contest, and an enthusiastic group of young model builders in our "Make & Take" program.

And last, but certainly not least, the airliner category was well represented...

Moose,

I went looking for you but there was no one by the camera when I came by. It was a good show. The tables always seem to be a little empty. I'd love to see more models. I've see pics of shows were the tables are filled. The vendors were great however and I scored a few items I was looking for!

I saw a flyer that says the show next year will be at FRG at the American Airpower Museum, is that true? That would be great since its a lot closer for me. I think they are calling it Noreastcon or something like that.

Sorry I missed you, Pete - I was running Saturday! Glad you were able to make it down, and supported our vendors! We had a pretty good turn out of models this year - about 280 models entered in the contest, plus some "display only" stuff, in line with our typical show, and about 15-20 more than last year.

Yes, next year we will be doing something special. Instead of our usual show, we will be hosting the IPMS/USA Regional convention. We are part of Region 1, which covers the Northeast, hence the name "NorEastCon". IPMS/USA is the national model organization that we are a member chapter of. The regional is hosted by a different chapter each year - this year it is being held in Buffalo. It is a two day (Friday/Saturday) show - we are scheduled to hold it on April 30/May 1, 2010. And yes, we will be holding it at the American Airpower Museum. This is one of the few times an IPMS regional show is being held in a venue of this type, typically they are held in hotels/banquet facilities. As you can see, we are already working on the show for next year, although it won't be "officially" announced until next month at this year's NorEastCon. The museum has been incredibly supportive of us as we prepare for the show, and we expect next year's NorEastCon to be one of the best ever, so mark your calendars!
