Looks like Alaska will soon be doing another Special Scheme on a 734, after seeing the drawings this one will probably be a love it or really hate it, the design was done by a 17 year old High School Junior from Sitka, Alaska. Personally I like it, especially the way the sleddog has Boeing Cockpit Windows for eyes !

I like the general concept, but i wish it wasn't so "cartoon-ish". The Dog on the front looks fine, but the person on the tail is just too strange.

It's going to be a cool catch wherever it is! But - why put it on a -400 - why not a -800/-900
Mark
Outstanding concept and I give two thumbs up!

Mark I would imagine they chose the 400 as it does most of the inter Alaska flying, and is the only aircraft type at some of the smaller Alaska stations, the people of Alaska will probably appreciate this scheme the most.

I really like the design, but as Mat said, I hope it's not as cartoon-ish on the actual aircraft.

I assume no one has seen the "Real" version going on the -400?

Anyhow my first thought was it is going on the -400 because 1. as said intra state flying, and 2. less paint usage on the -400 due to it being smaller length then the -800 or -900 even. That was a wild guess though.

While the above photos are good, I'm sure our resident Seattle photag will have some great one's on here soon.
The Alaska website link at the top of this thread has some nice updates. check out the view gallery links on the right side of their page and you can see all the submitted designs, some where actually pretty cool.
Cheers

Its certainly fresh and I like that by holding such a contest, it helps make the public aware of various schemes and perhaps even about aviation photography.
Only thing missing from the STATEHOOD plane is a "YOU Betcha" Emblazoned on the aircraft!

Nice scheme, but is it just me, or does it look like the Eskimo is chasing those animals with a giant pooper-scooper?

Not being a photographer, I can't imagine the thrill you guys get at one of your photos being published.
Can you imagine the pride of seeing your idea taking of into the skies. This girl can be very proud of a job well done.
