There are so many videos like this that, while very entertaining, are really adding a tremendous amount of hype to Barack Obama. I feel as though a lot of people are pushing for him, not so much for his own policies, but because he's not a Republican.

I just hope that he can really bring about the change that all are hyping, and that it's POSITIVE change, and that the US doesn't emerge as another Socialist France in 4 years.

I read a quip by some liberal pundit the other day that I thought was dead on: "The Republicans might own talk radio, but the Democrats rule the Internet. I'd rather have the Internet." This is a good example of that.

I am a little bit worried about one party rule for the next four years. I just hope the Dems realize if they do anything extreme...or nothing at all...the country's current anti-Republican sentiment will swing the other way very swiftly.

That is a very accuarate statement, was that Dick Morris?

Gotham, your statement was dead-on as well.....

Look at what happened when Clinton was voted in, a Republican Congress was voted in. When the anti-war reached the apex, a Democratic Congress was voted in....

With all of the "Obama, is the only one that can save the world" comments, he is not going to be given toooo long to get his plans into action, which is a lot of pressure for any politician to be up against.....

Firstly Matt I wouldn't confuse the left wing media and DNC hatred toward the GOP as the whole country. This is what the DNC wants you to believe and thought it would carry them to easy victory in 04'. Obviously the country said otherwise. Second the country has gotten a good look at what the Dems would do with the Pelosi, Reid do nothing congress. We still should wait till after Tues is over before we crown Nobama. I know many are believing the polls but all those people that listen to talk radio and not he internet have a voice too and believe you me there are a few more than you think.

I'm not confusing the two. I'm really talking about the scores of centrist voters who would ordinarily lean toward the GOP, like myself, but are voting Obama in response to the past 8 years of ineptitude and disappointment.

For better or worse with their party running the show now it should be easier for Reid and Pelosi to move stuff through. If they continue to get nothing done its at their own peril...they won't be able to blame the Republicans anymore.

As for the polls, I won't go as far as saying they're rigged, but the media has a very keen interest on making it seem that the race is close because it helps ratings. Notice that they only report the national percentages and not the electoral college breakdowns where Obama's lead is more substantial.

I'm in the same boat as Matt. I'm a registered Republican that will be sending my vote to the left. I honestly still like Bush, but I don't feel he's able to accomplish anything, and I have similar low expectations for McCain should he be elected. Though the amount of "change" that Obama and his followers have been raving about is interesting, I think we just need to deviate from our current course, and spend the next four years repairing our own nation, our image, while protecting ourselves from terror both inside and outside of our borders.

I honeslty do feel fear that Obama and an entire, left-leaning Washington will make our country somewhat socialist, but I hope that they will not be able to accomplish that much damage in the next 4 years.

I also honestly belive that if it wasn't for the bible belt, we'd already be France.

We've already socialized our finance industry and the auto industry...might as well keep going! What's next? Health care? Airlines? :borat:

Polls are not rigged but they are flawed and biased. Remember that people will not always be truthful as to who they are voting for or who they voted for in exit polls. They have also become a tool of the media. I think when this election is said and done you will see many states that vote different than the polls indicate.

I don't think you have to be a bible thumper to not want the left wing progressive socialist views. I doubt that all the people that voted for Bush in 04' were bible thumpers. Again your not ultra right wing if you don't vote Democrat, that is what CNN and MSNBC want you to believe. It is also what led to Obama's stupid and insulting comment about clinging to religion and guns. There are plenty of people out there that don't want Obama's policies yet are not right of center.

Never said that

Never said that, either.

What I meant is that if you remove the bible belt, you get rid of the chunk or people that voted Republicans into office ofr the past decade.

Well Phil as usual your statement was very general. Are you saying that if you remove the bible belt we would have had socialism? If so it is pretty off base. I don't think this country needs bible thumpers to keep the left from making us into another France or Sweden. It is a given that the bible belt is a "chunk" of voters that voted GOP in the last decade but that is like saying the sky is blue. Getting back to your original statement of I also honestly belive that if it wasn't for the bible belt, we'd already be France.

I would say your trying to imply that if it wasn't for the far right we would be a far left progressive nation? Sorry I don't buy it. As I stated before there are also many people in this country that don't carry bibles around that would not tolerate the kind of nation Pelosi, Reid, Obama, Boxer, Feinstein etc want and would vote them out of office if we ever got close to it.

I think the liberal left (not necessarily Democrats, but the social group that influences them) have been trying to push a Socialist agenda for many years.

With such close Presedential elections the past decade, I think that we wuld be a much more Socialist nation. Not fully, but close to the likes of the swing we're seen in European nations over time.

Without the large bible belt population, we just would not have seen those same election results.

I think Phil may have a point here. I don't believe Bush W gets elected over Gore (certainly) or Kerry (possibly) without the "Christian Right" (for lack of a better term, and it really depends on how wide you cast your net to define that group). Thats not at all to suggest they're the only folks that voted for him, but its the difference I think. So, if one agrees, the question really turns on how "socialist" a Gore or Kerry Administration might have been.

While I am hopeful for an Obama Administration, and believe the upside could be huge - he has signaled the electorate that he is not going to embrace economic class warfare, (as say, Hillary would certainly do and did), understands Teachers Union is not blameless in public education follies, explained his vote(s) on partial birth abortion, endorses more military spending than his Democrat peers might favor etc... but of course, should he turn out to appoint/promote judges that see violent felons & crime as de facto by-products of "social injustice", endorses the politically correct forces of censorship across the entire culture, builds social programs that enable the breakdown of the family, etc, all the while not getting control of the deficit, its of course going to be a disaster of the first order, considering it follows on the heels of the current fiasco.
