Greetings,
Below is my yearly summary of the United Nations General Assembly (63rd session)

VIP week 2008

This year the UNGA gave up the least amount of aircraft both in quantity and quality since started shooting the visitors in 2002. There were a few minor new catches but overall it was VERY disappointing to get super excited about accept for Burkina Faso 727-200 at EWR. The highlight this year should have been the Congo 707-138B that I was expecting unfortunately it had mechanical problems and didn't make the trip to the U.S. I hope next year will be more rewarding. We will see.

The following aircraft had also been spotted by other photographers.
EWR:Gainjet MD-87 (Iraq) SX-IFA, Mexican AF 757-200, G-5, Polish AF TU-154, Rep. Guinea Gov. 737-700
SWF:Spanish AF A310, Polish AF TU-154
Please note: I have substituted a few shots of those aircraft types that I have better shots of.

I think the most special aircraft of all of those to come in is the IL-96. When was the last time one of those came to JFK? They usually bring the IL-62, no?

My favorites among the whole group are the German A310 and the Mexican 757.

Why do the French always bring 3 different planes?

Nice catches as always, Senga. I wasn't aware that the new Chilean 767 made an appearance this year, makes sense though. The replacement for the 707 was actually supposed to be a former German A310 but instead they went for a 767-300.

Phil, one aircraft is for the President and his wife which I believe is the A319 and the rest are for the entourage!

Thanks for the compliments,
Gordon,
I didn't know it flew in either. It was at JFK when I stopped by one morning. I suppose I was VERY lucky to get the Chile 707-300 last year. I had a feeling I would not be seeing it again.

Josh, Yes that should be "Wheres Senga" I think it be pretty popular with regional photogs :)

Phil,
The IL-96 was usually a presidential aircraft but theyahve 3 now.. PM Putin was on this one and its probably his ego that he flew on the SDM9005 flight with a IL-96 instead of the standard IL-62. I have a feeling we won't be seeing the IL-62 much for the time being.

I went out to get a daytime shot of the IL-96 for Russia. I am glad to FINALLY get a sunny shot of this aircraft.

Great shots Senga!

I've been looking forward to your UN summary since before the arrivals started. You got a lot of great shots this year - The Russia, Ukraine, Burkina, and AF1 are just beautiful! :borat:

Chris102,
Thanks for the compliments.
I sure hop next year will be better. This year was Painful.

The shots of Air Force One and the Ukraine are from Previous years. Eventually I stopped shooting these planes since I have pix of them many times over. If I shot AF-1 think it would have been my 12th shot of it from over the years :) After a while you say I think Ill just "WATCH" it.
