I waited yesterday for the Friday afternoon flight of Emirates Flight 201 from Dubai. which was supposed to be an A388. However, I saw a B77W over Coney Island instead. It seems that they stopped flying the A388 to NY as of Aug. 31. Will it only return next summer? I was disappointed. The schedule says that an A388 was supposed to fly every Friday. What happened?

As Gordon said on Thursday,

Apparently A6-EDA is currently grounded in DXB due to an MX issue.

Delivery delayed till November 3rd due to interior installation issues. The 777-200LR and 777-300ER will be filling the gap.

No they didn't. They were supposed to receive it in time to start daily service on Oct. 1, however due to supplier issues, delivery will likely be pushed back to Oct. 26 at the earliest.

We might not be seeing the A380 at all this week:

"The sole A380 has been ferried back to Airbus due to a serious electrical problems - a burned junction box during ground ops- supposedly significant damage to upper avionics compartment!"

This particular A380 is going to end up being the most overshot aircraft at JFK next to the last couple of BA concordes...

Well, that´s the problem with new aircrafts, rumor is that the water heater for the showers, caused a massive short circuit.
She´s now back in biz.
