One of its Boeing 737s was forced to make an emergency landing this week after a passenger suffered an allergic reaction to them.
But Ryanair said the mushrooms had not been served as part of an on-board meal. Instead, they are believed to have been stowed in an overhead locker by a passenger.
During Monday night’s flight from Budapest to Dublin, liquid from the mushrooms leaked out and dropped on to a passenger who suffered an allergic reaction.
He complained of choking and a swollen neck and the plane made an emergency landing at Frankfurt Hahn airport in Germany, where he was taken to hospital.
The drama came on the night that another Ryanair Boeing 737 made an emergency landing in Limoges, in Central France, after the cabin lost pressure at 35,000ft.
