I am not sure how many of you might know Randy Petersen, who was the founder of Inside Flyer, Flyer Talk, and many other Frequent Flyer related publications and websites. Well Randy has joined the fight to save the Dividend Miles Program from itself--specifically the change in bonus miles accruals (As of August, no 500 mile minimum and NO bonus miles for elites). NO other airline has matched any of this except UA on the 500 mile, but we expect that to be reversed since merger is off the table.
Randy has started a website, www.savedividendmiles.com (http://www.savedividendmiles.com), for any US flyer to protest the changes. This site has the full support of my organization, FFOCUS, and the number of petitioners has grown tremendously in the past 24 hours.
Many of you don't have a dog in this fight, but we need to stop the trend of devaluing frequent flyer programs, and address the quality of service and nickel and diming policies. In case any of the airlines hasn't noticed oil is headed down, and may have peaked--for now at least.
This is an FYI post for those interested in the future of FF programs.
