I rode on the JFK AirTrain on Friday because it was free all day. I noticed near Federal Circle an ugly statue of a hand holding a cell phone which says Samsung. I never noticed this eyesore before. I can only imagine how much the Port Authority is being paid for this display. In this area, the Concorde which has been so badly abused since being taken out-of-service, could have been displayed. Of course, there would be no advertising fee as British Airways won't pay to advertise Concordes which no longer fly.

It's been there for at least a year, unfortunately, not sure how long it's scheduled to be there. Samsung is paying a couple million for the privilige if I remember correctly.

I agree. Not to get into a big Concorde discussion, but there is an open lawn about 100 feet away from the Samsung thing that is open, in view and would be a gorgeous location for the Concorde.

That Samsung hand is an eyesore, and should not be people's first site when showing up to the airport.

Yes, I think I know the perfect spot you mean. There is a lovely lawn with the letters JFK spelled-out in large lettering. The Concorde would have been perfect there but I believe that the Port Authority wasn't interested.

I noticed when I was at Heathrow this past Tuesday that they have a Samsung hand but still find room to have the worlds largest model as well on display.

This has been discussed like a million times with you part of the topic......you even started two of the topics where it was discussed.

To recap for the 100000th time. Its there for another two years and Port gets a cool Mil a year for it. The airport manager at JFK hates it and isn't planning on renewing it if she has any say in it, sadly though money speaks more so who knows what will be there next....perhaps a stature of the Goodyear Blimp.

Sorry but I never saw any article re: Samsung Hand posted here but I'm glad that it had been addressed before. I will read those articles. I hardly visit JFK anymore and was surprised to see that sculptured hand.
