Malev will be discontinuing their Transatlantic flights for good with the discontinuation of Toronto in September and New York in October. The last flight to JFK will depart on October 25th.

Malev has been operating Transatlantic flights for 13 years now and is finding it too expensive to operate them now. Their 767s will be returned to ILFC.

Wow, that is a shame. This is one of those airlines that are unique and will be missed I think.

Wow that's really to bad..You know only last year the variety of planes at JFK was so diverse and now its becoming what it was 3 years ago....very bland. We're losing so many interesting carriers because of this fuel situation.

No way. I was going to book with them for a flight in december, good thing I didn't!

That stinks. This also means Delta will now have the only direct flight between North America and Budapest.

I wonder how big a factor DL serving JFK-BUD was in Malev's decsion? I know the article said it was due to costs but of DL was not in the market they could probably charge a lot morea and also have a lot higher Load Factor in the market. To bad.

Definitely a shame. Just had the evening JFK flight divert into Philly about a month ago.
