Is there any form of Military registry out there that has correct registrations, C/N's - anything like that?

I went out to PBI at lunchtime yesterday and there were 3 SH-60F's from HSF-5 Nightdippers (birds 610, 612 and 620) taking off as well as a Marine Super Stallion (says 404 on the nose) - all I have is the 3 numbers on the copters and a Google search didn't tell me a whole lot. I want to get them in the queue at JP, but I'm sure they will be rejected because of incomplete information. I'm just not too sure where to get all the information.

Anyone?

A couple of good sources that I use all the time:

Scramble:
http://scramble.nl/milbase.htm
Use the drop down menus to find the service you want. You do need some basic info - in the case of HS-5, I googled them, and found some images with the "AG" tail code (you can confirm that with your photos)

Plugging "AG-610" into Scramble on the US Navy/Marine page gives me:

Serial: 164799
Code: AG-610
Type: SH-60F
CN: 70-1845
Unit: HS-5

They list AG-612, but not -620. You can also give the Super Stallion a try with the tail code and -404.

The other site I use is Joe Baugher's US military serial number site:
http://home.att.net/~jbaugher/usafserials.html

The link takes you to his USAF page, but scroll down and you will find a USN/USMC link. He lists all serial numbers broken down by fiscal year group (USAF) or BuNo series (USN) Baugher's page is a little harder to use as you need to have more information to track down a particular aircraft, and doesn't necessarily give you all the info you need for uploads to JP.net or A.net. For instance, in the case of AG-610, I tracked down the BuNo on Joe's site and found this one line listing:

164796/164807 Sikorsky SH-60F Seahawk

As I said, I use a combination of the two, and with a little knowledge of how these aircraft numbers work, can find just about anything I need.

I can't seem to find the tail code for the Super Stallion though - anyone have any idea where this might be from???

I can't really tell from the photo posted, but look at the engine cowling, right above the "404" on the fuselage. It looks like there is a number there. It could be the 6-digit BuNo. If so, you will be able to look it up on Scramble. As I said, I can't see it well enough here, but if you have a higher-rez original, you may be able to zoom in and check it out.

Nice shot, BTW.

Unfortunately - those are just some lines - I've zoomed into the whole aircraft on the original pic searching for something else. I wish I'd been able to get to the other side of it - I'm sure there must be something on that side.

I think I got it!

BuNo: 161992
Code: MT-404
Type: CH-53E
Unit: HMH-772
No serial number listed on Scramble, but from Baugher's list:

161988/162012 Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion
c/n 65-459/483 ??

So if they are in sequence, it would be 65-463.

Yes, I'm bored today  What I did was check this page: http://www.skybluephoto.com/Tail%20Code ... 0Corps.htm (http://www.skybluephoto.com/Tail%20Codes/Marine%20Corps/Marine%20Corps.htm) which lists USMC tail codes, looking for HMH-squadrons (heavy lift helicopters) and ran the tail code + 404 for the East Coast units. Looks like they are out of Willow Grove, PA.

i use this site and for the most part it's helped me a lot, especially with older a/c: http://home.att.net/~jbaugher/ you have to do a lot of manual looking around to get what you're looking for. there is a search engine but i've never really used it.
