I thought I had missed the chance to shoot fireworks this year, but apparently my own town's show was today, and I didn't know about it until a friend told me. Of course, I went. The only other time I have ever shot fireworks was at Disney in Florida.
Some of those came out okay, so I decided to bring the camera. I'm still a bit inexperienced when it comes to fireworks, so I was in a frenzy going through settings trying to find the best combination before the show ended. Most shots came out pretty badly, but I think I did score a couple of okay ones.
I didn't bring the SLR, and I've discovered that having no manual focus and shutter speed control sucks. The camera kept going to a long shutter speed even at sensitivity settings like ISO1600 or ISO3200. I ended up changing the autofocus setting and focusing at the brightest parts, so that it would use a shorter shutter speed.
I got to get pretty close, within a hundred meters of the launch spot.
These were all taken with my trusty Fujifilm F10.
