May 9 (Bloomberg) -- British Airways Plc, the carrier that canceled hundreds of flights during the chaotic opening of London Heathrow's Terminal 5, said the next phase of moving services to the building will take place in June.

Eight long-haul routes, including flights to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, will be switched from Terminal 4 to Terminal 5, British Airways and airport operator BAA Ltd. said today in a joint statement. The services account for about a quarter of the airline's total operations at Terminal 4.

British Airways, the third-largest airline in Europe, delayed plans to move more long-haul services to the 4.3 billion-pound ($8.4 billion) Terminal 5 after the building's opening on March 27 was plagued by inadequate staff training, computer glitches and other difficulties. The airline was previously scheduled to move the rest of its operations, divided between Terminals 4 and 1, into the new concourse on April 30.
