P&W To Test Geared Turbo Fan Engines on 747SP @ Plattsburgh

A few days after announcing they would begin testing a geared turbo fan engine aboard an Airbus A340-600 (http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2008/04/21/223119/airbus-to-test-fly-p.html) later this year, Pratt & Whitney has told Flight Global they will first test them on a Boeing 747SP (http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2008/04/25/223285/pw-prepares-to-flight-test-gtf-on-boeing-747sp.html) out of Plattsburgh, New York in July.
