Ok so I took the plunge and joined Eharmony for three months.
I've had a couple of good hits, a lot of "closed" for "other" reasons from matches. But, I've actually gotten four phone numbers from some women. The thing that's driving me crazy is that whenever I call them, they don't answer their phone! Goes to voice mail and I never get a response back, WTF?
I'm beginning to think that I wasted $100 on this BS marketing service. I just don't get it at all. These women write such great stuff about themselves and then don't have the common decency to answer your call AFTER they give you THEIR number! Once again, WTF???
I'm still pissed, but feel a little better now, thanks for listening.
Oh yeah, one of these days soon I'll get back out there spotting, work is finally calming down at EWR, so I can relax a bit soon!

Maybe they listened to the voicemail & did not like what they heard
If you leave a stupid voicemail that stinks of desperation, chicks will not call back.
Maybe you leave a better voicemail, just a thought......
It took me 11 years to figure out "till death do us part" was actually a goal!
Have a cookie, a cup of milk and smile..... My wife will eat my cookie, I can not touch the milk because there is only enough left for the kids cerial in the morning....and I am to tired to smile!

I've left normal voice messages each time I've called these ladies. Maybe they're not worth the effort.

Holy crap, that was hysterical.
11 years together or married?
Anyhoo, Belluciman,

Not to continue the curiosity, but what exactly were you saying on those voicemails? How many were you leaving each and with what frequency?

Just wait till the day comes when she yells at you saying you are going where to do what ??
That's the day she wants to go shopping for furniture or clothes with you when you have a nice spotting trip planned at your local airport dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, to answer Phil, I've left about four vm's to two over the past few days. Pleasant tone of voice each time. "Hi how are you, yada yada yada" "Let's talk when you have a chance" That kind of stuff.
Out of the blue this morning I received a call from one of the ladies and we wound up talking for 45 minutes! So, I have my first date with her on Monday night. I don't think I jumped the gun by complaining a bit, but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet!
Once again, thanks for listening.

Is that four for EACH woman? Personally, if its to the same girl, and if meeting from a dating service, I'd leave ONE voicemail per woman. If she doesn't answer, forget her. Simple as that. If they don't answer or call back, then they might not have been as interested as they implied. Calling and leaving more message would be considered groveling or being desperate from the point of view. Not worth it.

I wish I was Rico Suave!
Yep, four women, one really good response, one kind of response and two no-shows. I had a great two hour conversation with one from LI, seems promising but won't get my hopes up. I'll be meeting her for the first time on Friday evening. Should be fun!
I'm really hoping to get back out there spotting soon, it's been way too long. There are a couple of nice private jets parked in the North area of EWR. 727, a 737 900 (I think that's what I saw) and lots of smaller parked by the Admin building. Ahhh to get a PA pass!
I'll keep you posted on the ladies, maybe I'll have to add some smilies soon!

Mike, ya might be right about no more grumpy posts!
I had a really good time with her on Friday night. Went very well!
She showed me photos of her family and stuff like that and asked where my photos were. Unfortunately I don't keep photos in my wallet, so I did the next best thing......had my company laptop in my car with the air card. So, we sat in her car for the next few hours listening to the radio and I introduced her to photobucket!
She liked the aviation stuff and I have a lot of family stuff there too so I went through a lot of photos.
Then the night ended and we made plans for Monday night.....METS GAME! Is this a babe or what?
I was ready to exit the parking lot when I saw her standing by her car, I went next to her and she opened the door and told me her car wouldn't start, battery ran out from the radio being on too long! Thank God I had jumper cables!
Pretty good first date. And a memorable ending with a "jump start"!

I'm a veteran of the online dating scene and have done it for years, without too much success, mind you. I haven't heard anything good about eHarmoney. The two best paying sites I've heard about were Lavalife.com and match.com. I have a profile on the latter, but have not paid yet. My friends who have used Match and Lavalife have had pretty good success at meeting people. I'm actually thinking of becoming a paying member on Match, but haven't totally decided yet.
The two sites I frequent the most are Craigslist and plentyoffish.com. Both are totally free. I met my last girlfriend off Craigslist, but she ended up being an unstable bitch and opportunist. I have been on quite a few dates with women I met off CL (including one on Friday), but none of them have really worked out and I found that they seemed more interested in getting a free meal more than anything else. I notice there are a lot of fake ads on CL, so you have to be careful.
With Plentyoffish, I have not had much luck at all. I met one girl off there and she more or less wanted a free meal as well.
By the way, with Match, I hear it's about $120 for six months and they guarantee that you'll find someone or you'll get your money back.

The best thing to do to meet women is to hide in a dark parking lot at night and wait until they are about to get into their car and strike up conversation. (kidding)
Whatever method you might use to meet women, it's important to always keep a positive attitude. Dates don't always work out, but it's important to not let it affect your own self confidence and your outlook on the dating scene. Everyone fails, many times, until they get it right. Just gotta keep on keepin on.

Now that last one was too damn funny!
So far so good, but no pics yet, sorry guys. Went to the Mets rain out on Monday night and wound up going to a nice Peruvian rest in Astoria. I feel like I'm back in my 20's again!
As for the dating sights, when I wrote this post I was ready to give up on eharmony. Little did I know.......
But the sites like Craigslist, in my experience, those chicks are freeken crazy! They have some wild expectations for the type of guy they're looking for. I did match.com a few years ago and got no where. So, so far so good with my Farmingdale babe!
I had no idea this thread would get to two pages!

That's the thing with these sites...you can meet 100 girls and have no luck, and then #101 is it...that's pretty much how it went down for me on sawyouatsinai.com (basically a Jewish version of eHarmony)...I told her about my plane-spotting hobby on the first date and we're still together...
Of course, the dating sites are happy to take your money for two years while sending you worthless matches...at least 2/3 of mine didn't ever call me back...a lot of them "never got my message"...
Good luck with this Farmingdale girl...
