Hi guys,
I have heard from a number of sources that 2 NWA 747s are coming to Sydney, Australia this afternoon/evening saturday 5th (aust time), around about 1030pm onwards US West coast time Friday.
Anyone have any idea where there coming from?
why they are coming here?
Id love to hear anything as Ill definitely go spot them if they come in, been a good 15 + years since NWA exited YSSY on scheduled flights.
I highly doubt its anything to do with Virgin Australia launch to LAX last week with DEC flights and agreement with NWA but stranger things have happened.
Kind Regards,
Matt

I'm guessing military charters.

Probably either a civil or military charter.

Both aircraft were 747-200s, N623US and N624US, and were operating a civilian charter from MAD via BKK on behalf of a Spanish insurance convention. A Corsair 747-400 was also chartered.

That must have been a lot of Spanish insurance employees to need 3 747s!

Here are respective pictures of the 3 747s at MAD:

Indeed that was right Gordon thanks alot for that and to everyone who replied.
The Corsair was in a few days ago and left before the 2 NWA a/c arrived.
It is a very weird sight seeing those planes in as NWA last served us in around 1990/91 which was quite a bit ago.
I got 2 pictures my friend took of the new c/s 742 and old c/s 742 parked at YSSY - Kingsford smith intl Sydney at a temporary parking spot for visitors and international planes known as the Pond.

Note the Boeing C-40B BBJ (737-7CP) US Airforce blue nose sticking out in 2nd pic, she came in near to the NWA arrivals, quite a good spectacle for our spotters!

Matt
