It's an MD-82, was enroute to ORD, but faulty nose gear indicator spurred diversion to MIA.

Here's the FlightAware track:

The best line from the CNN news coverage:

"It's much better that the gear was stuck in the down position, rather that stuck in the up position."

Well, DUH!!!

OK, I'll admit it - when I heard the gear was stuck down, the first thing I thought was "better than stuck up"
Of course, the ticker on one of the news channels announced "AA jet lands safely at Miami", which is truly big news

After the plane landed i heard one of the news reporters go, "wow, he really looked like he stressed out the 'rear gear' by having those on the ground first. I almost punched the t.v.

Haha yeah, I was laughing so hard when the Fox reporter thought that the spray deflector on the nose wheel was something wrong with the wheel, he said "It seems as if it is a popped tire"

HAHA!

There were too many mistakes to mention, I was laughing during the entire broadcast.
