ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. , today announced that passengers at LaGuardia Airport in New York, N.Y., will have the privilege of their own personal pit crew to get through check-in fast, thanks to a hustling team of Danica Patrick look-alikes. Instead of changing tires and fueling cars, the "Danica Pit Crew" will work the AirTran Airways ticket counter, assisting travelers with their luggage and helping customers speed through check-in. To complete the racing theme, passengers will exit the check-in area by crossing a "finish line" between two checkered flags.

The airline, which sponsors the real Danica Patrick through its association with Andretti Green Racing, will use the Danica Pit Crew to kick off its new IndyCar(R) Series promotion, sending racing fanatics to select races throughout the 2008 IndyCar Series. Winners will receive tickets to watch the race from Danica's pit inside Pit Lane -- as close as they can get to the action without being Danica Patrick. For more information and official contest rules, visit http://www.airtran.com/danica.

"AirTran Airways is proud to sponsor Danica Patrick and Andretti Green Racing, and we are excited to give fans this unique racing opportunity," said Tad Hutcheson, vice president of marketing and sales for AirTran Airways. "And if you can't make it to the race, we offer free XM Satellite Radio at every seat, so racing fans can listen to the IndyCar Series Racing channel and not have to miss one minute of the excitement."

"AirTran Airways continues to be a great sponsor on the No. 7 Motorola car," said Danica Patrick. "The pit crew promotion is a great opportunity for race fans to get closer to the action than ever before -- just remember to bring your ear plugs."

Contest participants must be members of AirTran Airways' frequent flyer program, A+ Rewards, in order to be eligible for the contest. For the chance to win, racing fans can go to http://www.airtran.com/danica and enter their A+ Rewards number to be automatically entered in the contest. Sign-up for the A+ Rewards program is free.

AirTran Airways will hold drawings throughout the IndyCar Series season. Thirteen winners and their guests will receive two passes to watch the race from Danica's pit, airfare on AirTran Airways and a two-night hotel stay. The first contest winner will be sent to the March 29 race in Miami, Fla.

What's with them advertising in New York? There was a big Motorola ad with a pic of Danica Patrick on the side of a building that you can see from my office...I wasn't previously aware of anyone other than myself who followed IndyCar racing around here...

No, you can add me to that list. And after seeing this, I'm sure there will be a lot more fans:
