They are calling McCain the winner in Florida.

*Rumor has it that Rudy is going to endorse McCain*

Waiting for more information

With the McCain win, the delegate total for the Republican are as follows

McCain - 93
Romney - 59
Huckabee - 40

The Democrat delegate totals have not changed:

Clinton - 249
Obama - 179
Edwards - 58

Yeah he really screwed up badly....He should have been in it from the start. He may have not won the early states but he might have built some momentum for today's primary. He really blew any chance he had, looks like McCain is going to be the man...which means the next Pres will be a Dem.

Just the fact that McCain was endorsed by the New York Slimes should be enough reason to not support him...

I don't think so Tommy. First I wouldn't count out Romney yet and either Romney or McCain beat Hillary handily. They both have views that are not that far right and the the fact is people like them. Where Hillary falls short. Obama got his ass handed to him and even though right now the delegates don't count I think is shows that the big diverse states are going to endorse Hillary and in the end she wins the nod and loses by the same margin Kerry did to GW.

Nick, I think you've forgotten what it's like to have a Democrat running for president who actually campaigns...

(Which is understandable, there hasn't been one since 1996...)

At this point it's not going to matter as much as you want to think. The country will not elect Hillary or Obama. They are too far left and with McCain or Romney you get the president who is not far right and still will be aggressive in the middle east. Like 04' if the Dems had a good candidate out there they win by a landslide but what do they do. John Kerry. Fast foward to 08' and what do they do? Someone who was an unknown a year ago and a woman that when she gives you that fake laugh you want to claw her eyes out. Also it would be nice for Obama and Hlllary to actually start telling us how they expect to do these things they are promising which they still refuse to do. All we hear is Change! Change! That will wear off soon and the margin of victory is going to be the voters who know the issues and will vote accordingly.

I think this country WILL elect an Obama....if he gets there. I don't think he will, unfortunately.

McCain won't lose by a landslide, but I don't see him getting in, and honestly, I don't want him in. He's a little too extreme with some of his views. I think he's a mess.

To me, it does look like Hillary is going to be our next President. I am frightened to death.

An update to Mike's #'s, according to CNN...

McCain 97
Romney 74
Huckabee 29
Paul 6
Giuliani 2

Clinton 232
Obama 158
Edwards 62

Yes, Ron Paul has triple the delegates of AMERICA'S MAYOR.

So is the majority of the country, which is why she will not win. Obama actually would fare a little better but if McCain or Romney campaign properly they get it done. McCain gets the conservative vote, veterans, hispanics and independants. He should carry the same states GW did rather easily.

McCain is too socially conservative to get the independents (except on immigration), and Romney is too Mormon to get the evangelists (who are the core support for Republicans).

Which means both sides would have to resort to some fairly dirty tricks to get votes. And Clinton is one of the few Democrats who still knows how to play that game.

This is going to get nasty.

Conservatives don't care too much for McCain since he's more moderate but are you saying they won't have a choice in the presidential election so conservatives will vote for him?

I am surprised McCain is doing so well. His economical stuff isn't very strong, and I think he's a little overly "gung-ho" when it comes to terror. We're in a messy spot in the world, and I think he may be too stubborn to make the needed changes.

An update to Mike's #'s, according to CNN...

Why is CNN awarding Delegate votes for Minnesota, Illnois, Arkansas & Maine? They have not voted yet?

Minnesota - vote is scheduled for 05-Feb & has 41 delegates
Arkansas - vote is schedule for 05-Feb & has 34 delegates

Here is part of an editorial piece by Dick Morris

MCCAIN MAY WIN, ROMNEY CAN’T

Hillary’s phony experience argument, which she could still maintain vis-à-vis Romney, would be hollow against McCain. And while Obama could point to a significant gap in their ages, Clinton, only 10 years his junior, could not effectively make age an issue against McCain.

Obviously, McCain’s strong support for the war in Iraq would be a point of contention and vulnerability in a general election against Clinton. But his support of the surge, and its evident effectiveness in reducing combat casualties, might well give him the better of the argument in front of a moderate general electorate.

It is only on the economy that McCain has a self-proclaimed (if inadvisably so) weakness. But Hillary would be overreaching dramatically if she claimed special expertise on this issue merely through the osmosis that she claims to be a feature of living in the White House. Her tax increase proposals, particularly her support for a higher capital gains tax, can be painted, accurately, as foreshadowing doom for the economy. Neither Hillary nor McCain can claim the economy as an especial preserve.

Can Romney? Inexplicably, the McCain campaign has not spoken of the layoffs that must have accompanied Romney’s efforts to “turn around” failing companies. Hedge funds are notorious for cutting jobs and the Clintons will make Mitt eat every single one. McCain has no such vulnerability and, hopefully, will make Romney’s layoffs an issue before Super Tuesday.

I consider myself a republican and I am not super conservative. Some will stay home sure but some will vote for him since Hillary and Obama are much more left than he is. Let's face it with McCain u get the Rep who is not far right who will stay strong on terror.

and I think he may be too stubborn to make the needed changes.

Depends on what you mean, if you mean cut and run, no he won't do that. In fact neither would Obama or Hillary as much as they lie and say they would. As far as the rest goes we have to watch countries like Iran for they pose a real threat.

That is where a strong Vice President comes in. If Rudy was the VP, I am sure he would smack McCain on the side of the head & tell him to calm down. :D

McCain is not that bad, he is certainly not my first choice, but, if push came to shove, I would vote for him.

Hey Nick have you spent any amount of time looking at half the bill's McCain has authored and cosponsored.....? You should because you see allot of the Dems you hate were his partner.

Here's how I see it at this point...there is no real difference between McCain who IMO is a Stalinist and Clinton who is also a Stalinist.

Here's a few....Lots of your buddies on there...this is why will not get the Conservative support and the election will swing to Clinton.

Tommy this is all lip service. Once McCain and Hillary go heads up it's over. No matter what the issues it is going to boil down to foreign affairs and even though you think McCain is as far left as Hillary he isn't. Not to mention that a good chunk of the country can not stand the sight of her. Your only prayer is to hope Obama somehow wins the nomination. Which is a stretch. McCain wins the general. Hell I think even Romney could beat her heads up. I mean did you ask yourself how McCain has made one of the most unbelievable comebacks in political history? He was dead and buried and now look at him. Means one thing. The country knows what is coming and they will do anything to keep that horrid woman as far away from the white house.

Nick lip service....how are his cosponsors lip service? The facts are there mate. Do you even have a clue why you support McCain? Is it only because Rudy supports McCain? McCain has stronger ties to your friend Ted Kennedy then Clinton does. You really should take some time and go look at the firends McCain has on the left.
