Southern Skyways (Primaris) to AVP

Southern Skyways will start flights from AVP to Myrtle Beach, SC starting May 21! I just heard on the news that it will be operated by Primaris, so I'm hoping that'll mean the 757-200's!! :borat:

I can't imagine there is enough demand to fill a 757 between AVP and MYR, sorry Chris, I know its your home airport but just being realistic.

I think that a 757 might be a little bit for a flight to MYR. Spirit flies the A319 from LGA and ACY to MYR (though there are 3x daily flights from LGA) while US Airways has 4 daily flights on the 737 (-300 and -400, according to Flightaware) and A319 from Charlotte. Nobody's flying anything larger, and I don't know that there'd be enough demand from AVP to warrant a 757.

I am surprised they would use a 757 for AVP-MYR. This is a point-to-point market that is between two smaller sized cities. To me, that does not justify a 757.

Chris, I would not expect this new air service to stick around very long.

A 737 makes more sense for this route, or even an RJ.

US does not fly 737's there. It is all RJ's.

I agree that it's a bad business decision for Southern Skyways to use the 752 but, the article below says that they are going to use a "Boeing jet with 198 seats", so that would most likely be the 752!

Although it might change between now and May... I hope not...

But, like JetBlueAirwaysFan said, the Southern Skyways service probably is not going to last for long.....
I'll make sure to get pics on the 1st day of the service!

Ohio, West Virginia among direct trips

Southern Skyways, an Atlanta-based company, plans to fly direct between Myrtle Beach and a slew of new cities this summer.

The stops announced Wednesday are the Tri-Cities, Tenn.; Rockford, Ill.; Akron/Canton and Dayton, Ohio; and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pa.

Southern Skyways started flying to Charleston, W.Va., last year and will continue to do so. Last week, the company also said it would fly to Bridgeport, W.Va., from Myrtle Beach.

Flights will cost between $59 and $139 each way. They will begin the week of May 21 and run through Labor Day.

The company plans to use one airplane, a Boeing jet with up to 198 seats, to service all of the cities except Bridgeport, Evans said.
