For anyone up for LGA on this Saturday 1-5 it should be a little warmer and the Port is planning a rare (but short) winter runway closeure. They are planning on closing 13-31 from 0001 to 1500 lcl Saturday, and based on forecasted winds of WSW operations up and down 22 are likely. Again pretty rare in the winter to see 22 ops, if anyone is interested.

Cheers

Just a little update for anyone who might be going out Sat morning, weather forecast sounds great and still looks like 22. As of 1430 Friday subject to change US has 2 Special Schemes on the LGA-B0S Shuttle. the PHL Eagles is departing at 0800, 1200, and 1600 and PSA at 1000, 1400, and 1800. For anyone who goes out have fun and enjoy the warmer weather.

Cheers

Holy (oh wait I can't say that anymore). Eagles is the one football scheme I want and don't have...

Getting there for 8 for the first departure is a stretch, and I might lose the light by noon, but I'll take my chances...

Wow. I might have to do extra stuff tonight so maybe I can do a LITTLE spotting in the morning.

Rwy 22 deps in the morning from Planeview is a wild experience.

Never been over there for Rwy 22 depatures. What would shots look like from over there? Can someone please post an example? I live close-ish to LGA and might consider going over there in the morning for a while, then down to JFK if possible.

Here's one of my shots off 22 early in 2006.

You don't need a long lens for Planeview 22 departures, do you? I was too late to rent the 100-400 for this weekend, and I'd rather use my 28-105 than my crappy 75-300 if I can...

(I'm assuming it's ok, because I was easily able to get full-frame shots of Planeview arrivals with an 18-55 lens...)

28-105 should work well for you I think.

Some of you may need earplugs for the long MD-80 rolls.

It's been a while.

I might head out to Planview to. Im a little skeptical about the speed of the a/c in which I am even able to get a good picture instead of a blurry or cut of one.
