New York Airline Passenger Rights Law Takes Effect

A bill passed in response to the 10+ hour airliner strandings at JFK this past winter and signed into law by Governor Spitzer in August took effect yesterday. Airlines are now required to provide passengers stranded for over three hours basic necessities including water, snacks, working restrooms and fresh air. Penalties for offenders range up to $100,000 per passenger per violation.

Yep lets punish the airlines when the fault remains with the FAA. This is just a bad policy and will drive up the cost of travel in the NY area.

Take a few flights on NWA or the most mismanaged airlines and you can buy his own plane :)

Well, in a form I agree and I also disagree. It is not the airlines fault most of the time. If the FAA would stop moseying around and bull ****ting these issues would not come up. One cloud, two planes, three hours. Yep, that is the motto they should use.

FAA ineptitude might cause delays, but that doesn't excuse an airline from inhumane treatment of their paying customers.

I agree Matt, it is no excuse but people make the mistake of blameing the airlines all together. That is the problem.
