Roswell has been a place on my "hitlist" for a while, but the expense of getting there has been prohibitive.

However thanks to Southwest and their Ding fares, Roswell will be a reality on 2/1!

I got a Ding this morning of a one way fare from PHL to Albuquerque of $81 plus tax. As I had a $74 ticket credit on file, this looked good. I also had a $120 ticket credit on AirTran, but they don't fly to ABQ...damn!! That's when the brain waves started, and I checked a one way fare from DFW to PHL with AirTran $80 plus tax one way. A quick Mapquest showed it to be at least an 8 hour drive, so I checked Delta who I had a small credit with. $97 plus tax one way via SLC (another airport on my hitlist!) with a bonus of a flight on an MD-90 (something else on my hitlist)

So I am now traveling on 1/31 from PHL via Houston Hobby on Southwest (boring 737's, but a great airline!) 2/2 ABQ-SLC-DFW on a Skywest (never flown on them) CRJ 100 (why couldn't it be a 900??) then on 2/3 from DFW via ATL to PHL (another new airline and a 717, what a way to start 2008!) Total cost approximately $120 instead of $320 but $200 worth of cancellation charges in the past year (but don't tell the wife that ;-)

Anyone wishing to join me is more than welcome!

I always wanted to go to New Mexico. I alway thought about doing a flight to El Paso, then renting a car. Anyway, have a great trip and bring back some nice photos if you can!

It's absolutely gorgeous there. El Paso.. grimy, thank god it's in a different state. Have a friend that lives in Alamogordo, I've spent a few weeks there over the past year and I like the state more and more every time I go. Can't wait to go back again.

haven't been to roswell in a long time, made a few trips there from LUF and P18 back in the day. the last tmie i was there we landed our helo on a church's football field because one of my crew chiefs had family there and they invited us over for breakfast. we ended up having quite a crowd gathered when we left, probably all of the kids in the neighborhood were there to watch us lift off.
