Unfortunately JFK will loose the ATL-JFK-ATL 777 segment as it has been switched to 757 equipment effective 3/31/07. However the new 77L will be based out of JFK soley operating the JFK-BOM-JFK sector initially. It will remain on the ground at JFK for over 14 hours in between segments.

The reason for this is ATL-PVG starts that day as well. There is no need to position one of the ICN, NRT, or TLV arriving 777s to JFK to operate the JFK-BOM sector. The BOM 777 will now operate the PVG sector. As more 77Ls come online fleet utilization will be streamlined.

The first 77L arrival into JFK will be on 3/30/07 as DL 16 ATL-JFK (and the final ATL-JFK 777 flight for the forseable future):

0016 ATL-JFK 30MAR 505P 30MAR 735P DELTA 77L

Thanks Chris for posting. I fondly remember my last DL Flight from ATL-JFK on an MD-11 in Biz-Elite with only about 10 of us in J and a full hot dinner. I also even more fondly remember doing JFK-MCO in a 777 also in J and another hot dinner. Flew that flight (approx 1700 departure) 3 times over about 2 years, twice on an Intl 763 and once on the 777, which I believe only flew it for about 4-5 months.

Cheers

Doh! Sunset on March 30 is at 7:18P...If this flight comes in 20 minutes early, it MIGHT be photographable...:)

Looking at the DL schedule, the BOM-JFK 77L flight will arrive at 6:40am. So one has to get up really early to catch it, just like the AI 77L.

Glad to hear that the new Delta 772LR will be based at JFK-BOM!

Too bad. I'm flying on the JFK-ATL leg of DL 17 this Friday, so I'll have to enjoy it while I can!

It will more than likely return once more 77Ls come online.

I'm still a 777 virgin! Never flew on one. Same with the 747! The closest I came to a 777 was a 764.
