Boeing to start 777 freighter assembly
Boeing Co. said Thursday that it will begin assembly of the first 777 freighter in early 2008 at its Everett, Wash., facility. The plane will be delivered to Air France in the fourth quarter of 2008, Chicago-based Boeing said. More than 90 percent of design work for the new cargo plane is complete, the company said. Boeing has orders for 82 of its 777 freighters, valued at about $20 billion, from 11 customers. The passenger version is one of Boeing's most profitable aircraft and is being built at a peak rate of seven a month as Boeing speeds production of all models to deliver on three straight years of record orders.
Air France? Will they be delivered dirty?
