Seems like whenever an SAS diverts to SWF it is always subjected to long waits. Last August SK909 diverted and had to wait on the ground for 9 hours!

Hey Guys,

This is big news! I was surfing for flights on AA.com and I noticed that Stewart was added again on their route map. I hope this is good news! I am so excited. I will definately fly out of SWF again if they come back! I will monitor this very closely!

Sometimes it's hard for the entire class to pay attention when the noise of a C-5 drowns out the teacher! Paying attention is more of an issue for me on the soccer field or the tennis court, always looking up. :)

That's a shame, AA was the first carrier at SWF. Maybe they'll pull a Delta and come back two years down the road.

If you recall, Delta halted their SWF service at the end of Summer, 2005 and returned to SWF in the Spring of 2007.
In fact, I think Delta has been in and out of SWF other times as well. Might have been a 9/11 thing.

ahazzard1289
2007-12-08, 08:58 AM
As being an American Platinum member and being only 17 years old, all my flights out of SWF would be on American for years. I didn't mind a connection. I would fly them both for business and pleasure trips. A business airline like American cannot charge leisure trips. I flew to Atlanta just before they pulled out connecting in Chicago I paid $234 with American while Delta had nonstop for $228. See what I mean? It definately was the competition. I remember when there was no direct Atlanta service I paid double what I paid this August. I hope they return. I have 4 trips coming up, that I still have to book, but HPN is my only option.

Hmm a CRJ-700, nice upgrade. The night I was out shooting the Nimrod I saw the evening flight arrive and I could have sworn it was a -700 but it turned out to be a -200. I'm certainly more motivated to shoot the -700 then the -200.

Last time Travolta was at SWF it was pretty much permanent for 3 months with the occasional departure here and there. The 707 was always in the same spot which is shootable through a fence. I can only imagine it is parked in the same spot. If you'd like me to I can try and find out where it is parked.

Just remembered this as I was about to go to sleep.

Today I was outside playing tennis and looked up when I heard a low turboprop and could only assume it was on its way to SWF judging by its low altitude. The aircraft looked like and sounded like a C-130 but only had 2 engines. Was too big to be a Saab-340.

Any ideas on what it might have been?

Iberia A340-600
2008-03-26, 09:20 PM
Both Delta Connection and AirTran seem to be doing well with flights to ATL. Presumably due to connections onward from the focus city.

I think Delta is better off sending a couple of CRJ-200s throughout the day rather then sending 1 or 2 737-800 or similar sized aircraft. With the amount of connection traffic it makes more sense to have more flights with smaller capacity spread throughout the day to eliminate and help connection times in ATL.

I only say this because CRJ's are less efficient than the larger jets. If DL had three MD-88s rather than four CRJ's it might make more sense with rising fuel costs.

If it helps, I will be the guy with dark blonde hair, black shorts, black shirt, and velcro sandals.
Also, I won't have much time, as someone is picking me up at SWF. So if you wanted to meet at baggage claim, that's fine.

Hi All,

The Jet Blue flight to West Palm Beach yesterday was delayed 3 hours and in the last second decided to get a new plane from JFK. This ferry flight did not show up on any tracking website. There was a problem with the fan intake or something.

Also, I will be leaving my job at Hudson group for something bigger and better. I will be taking a job with Northwest and Delta at Stewart. I am in the process of being hired for Customer service/ticket agent/baggage agent/Ramp agent. I am excited. A little drop in pay, but the benefits are all there.

We were all informed NW Airlink is pulling as well. At the very least Northwests' contracts are up Jan. 1st and another contractor wants to bid on it. 15 jobs may be lost here. With the contract change, they CAN NOT transfer to the nw contractor. It is sad, because Pinnacle does not operate out of any other smaller airport in NY. Mesaba has grown and even took over HPN! Maybe if Mesaba comes, we will get flights to Minneapolis, which woul be great.

Dear JetBlueAirways Fan,

I shouldnt have to have my news confirmed, nor do I want it to be. I do know that CO is coming in. Gates 3 and 4 are prepped for them. Co will be using 737's for their 3 routes. They are slated to begin in April. I work for one of the airlines there presently and this is what WE know. We have seen Co's ramp crews out there getting everything set. Fresh paint, and raised jetways are evident.

A (non-spotter) friend who lives within two minutes informed me that "a big white jumbo jet just flew out of Stewart!". Also reported on FlightAware was SAS903 (A333) en route to EWR from Arlanda.

On July 2nd there were 3 CO flights diverted from EWR to SWF, including a 777-2 and two 737-8's. On a leisurely stop after lunch, I was pleasantly surprised to catch these as well as the usual JBU563 among others.

Somewhat poor quality - merely a 18-55mm and nothing else, but it was good to stop by; chatted with Esther, the 82-year old SWF junkie who (nearly) spots/sits with her lunch on a daily basis at the base of Perimeter Road. Per Scramble, from the tail code (NY-3311) it is a KC-130T, BuNo 163311 assigned to VMGR-452 (http://www.marforres.usmc.mil/4thMAW/MAG49/vmgr452/). They are a Marine Reserve refueling unit, stationed at Stewart, not visitors.
