The Port Authority of NY/NJ is getting out of the helicopter business after running the Downtown/
Wall Street Heliport for 47 years. They decided not to renew their lease and the city is actively
looking for new owners. The PA says the heliport does not fit in with the agencies "core mission".
The PA says the divorce is a friendly one. Bids for a new 10 year lease are due in Dec. In the
meantime the PA continues to manage the facility. The city also wants the new operator to
install a refueling system which JRB has lacked.
