NYPD Air Sea Rescue made a dramatic rescue last night after a private boat ran into the tow cable
of a tug pulling a barge and flipped over around 11PM Sat night. On scene quickly over the water off of Coney Island by the Ambrose Light Tower they quickly deployed divers from their 412 helicopter. One victim had already been rescued by a passing fishing boat and one was DOA. They hoisted one victim aboard and evaced him quickly to Floyd Bennett Field where EMS had staged. Sadly he was also DOA. But NYPD Scuba divers found a 4th victim trapped in an air pocket in the overturned boat and brought him to the surface. Not sure if he too was hoisted aboard and taken to FB but he is recovering in the hospital. Looked like a second PD ship, one of the Agustas also responded to the scene.
