From our website ::Today it gives me great pleasure to announce our two newest BlueCities – including one ‘Saint’ – St. Maarten (SXM) in the Netherlands Antilles, and Puerto Plata (POP) in the Dominican Republic. We’ll begin daily service to both lush resort cities from JFK in January aboard the A320.

Thank you Lord.

My prayers have been answered.

Hopefully this will lead to better service and competition from AA on JFK-SXM route

The first thing I thought of was "wow Mario must be screaming like a girl." You're right I hope it does lower the price on this route. AA doesn't like when people move into their backyard so I'm sure we'll see some good pricing.

Tommy, my thoughts exactly. I am amazed it took him two replies to speak up. He must have been pretty choked up pretty good.

The intro fare is a bit higher than I expected it to be, only about $80 cheaper than AA round trip for the dates I tried in January. Nothing to sneeze at, but for a new route to a destination that is not at the top of NY'ers lists, I would have expected something in the $99-$129 range.

Agreed, the starting prices are a tad steep although January is a peak time for Caribbean travel. I was looking into either going to SXM or LAX for a couple of days in January and had decided LAX a couple of weeks ago but when I saw Jet Blue was announcing flights to SXM I started to think SXM again. However it's about $600 more to fly to SXM then LAX and the only perk of Jet Blue is that I would be on the inaugural flight.
