What's so special about this Matt? I've see more impressive harder last minute banks on the Expressway visual to LGA....

It's not so much the turn, as much as the apparent 5' of clearance over those hills on final, coupled with the short runway that requires them planting it on (or before) the numbers.

TGU is quite the approach. AA has very unique procedures when operating into and out of the airport. Part of the International Ground School is just spent on TGU. I know that if the aircraft is not on the ground in the first 1/3 feet they have to go around etc. All the pilots that fly there also have to be checked out to fly into TGU. AFAIK there used to be a rule that both pilots had to be Captains - I dont think this one still applies.

Quito also has special procedures due to the extreme elevation.

Tommy, that is MUCH more difficult than EV31 on the worst of days. That pilot greased it, even though he touched down before the threshold (I assume that's allowed, as the runway looks especially short there. The low clearance and terrain is also another huge factor to its difficulty.
