Finally got out to FRG today and did the New Highway over to 109 then through the airport to the Observation Lot. Saw the three Warbirds parked right adjacent to the parking lot on New Highway. They looked pretty cool and with beautiful weather predicted
for the holiday weekend I'll probably catch them flying around. Down to the Goodyear blimp
pad. They had a whole bunch of crew members working around the airship and it was funny
watching them move with the blimp as the breeze pushed it back and forth. Nice looking airship and definitely larger than Snoopy 1/2. They took off near 3PM nose up, gaining altitude them a left turn across Runway 1-9 heading out NW.
Stopped by the Cablevision hangar and Chopper 12 took off due east. And later one of the
Cablevision 76ers took off from Bravo pad and came right over the parking area, wrapped around the Tower and headed out west along the parkway. Nice to see they finally started to work on the new hangar by Hangar 43(?). Any idea who is going in there?
But it was Runway 1 that was rocking. Private/corporate jets were departing and arriving
one right after the other with the Cessna types sandwiched in between, a few doing touch and goes. A lot of "watch for turbulence" and "expedite your turns" for them. And the visibility wasnt so great with a hazy sun and clouds rolling in. I was there for about an hour and it was pretty much non-stop the whole time. The Atlantic City "Joker" shuttle was pretty busy with one going out as a second landed and as soon as that one off loaded, they loaded up and headed out.
Picked a good day/time to hang out there.
