So I caught a program on the Discovery HD Channel about the final flight of the Concorde from JFK back in 10/03. Seeing the end credits I noticed the program was possibly distributed/shown in 2004. My question is: when they focused on the spotters at Broad Channel were any of them you? I must also say that I was a bit surprised Air France wasn't highlighted , and the Tu-144 not even being mentioned. I mean I know it dealt with the last flight but they also delved in to the history. All in all though, the program on my 36" HDTV CRT rocked.

Let Phil and Mario explain that to you as I saw it last night too.

I was the guy in the blue button down shirt on the beach.

God, that footage of us was horrible. The proportion in the fisheye lens they used was just....man.

Mario on the left, me on the right.

Mario was also interviewed separately at several points throughout it.

This is a first. Spotters who actually keep in shape. And I've been spotting since '77.

Actually, I've lost ALL muscle that I'd gained, so I'm back to square one.

Just saw this for the first time tonight believe it or not...sorry to jump on the band wagon so late, but holy crap...it looks like it should be a high school reunion. Phil looks like he's 12. I think based off his description of the plane, he and Maya would be soul mates =P

I am still so freakin pi**ed that I couldn't be there. I had just started a new job here in Philly that Monday and there was no way I was going to ask for the Friday of my first training week off for this.

The bastards ended up laying me off almost 9 years later anyway, ha.

I had not met any of you guys at that point, well except for Art. I shot the last Concorde flight from the Bridge.
Took another 9 months to finally meet Phil

you spoke so poetically of the Concorde....I'm pretty sure I even saw a tear trying to make its way out. Maya Angelou was one of the passengers on the final flight.

I lived in Jamaica (the West Indies not the cesspool north of JFK) when the Concorde took it's last flight, I was pretty sad that I had to miss this flight. I grew up with them dumping the gear over my house in Long Beach. It was always a breath taking moment. When I was about 7 or 8 I had to be hospitalized at LIJ for a week and was lucky enough to be on the top floor on the east side of the building. When JFK was on the 22's I would just sit next to the window watching planes arrive at seemingly eye level with the highlight being Speedbird and Air France.
