According to A.net it will be once daily timed for Euro connections with an MD80. Route will start in December.

MD's....hmmm that's odd, they don't have any MD support eq, ground, mx, etc at JFK, not that it's a big deal to move some in but you would think they'd use a 757 to reduce and expenditures.

They would probably just treat it as an outstation type operation for that matter. The ground diffrences are not major. All you really need is a diffrent tow bar and the bypass pins to be honest. A little familiarization work and bing! Smartass would know this one inside out though. Where are ya Mike!?

From my flying experiences, and simply an opinion...

I would MUCH prefer AA's MD80 over the 757's AA has in their coach cabin, disgusting.. I am reffering to the blue covered white diamond looking 757's.

I can go without IFE on the plane, so iw ould prefer the MD80 for comfort on such a flight.

I do agree it will be nice to see an MD80 in AA again since TWA left JFK with the MD80.

LOL, no, no, no I learned the older model, you know the ones built before I was born.

It does use a differant tow bar, but I'm sure the junk pile, err collection of unused equipment, has stupid, err Super, 80 tow bars. The 80's pay JFk unscheduled visits occasionally just after midnight curtesey of the PA's latenight aircraft sharing program, AKA LGA curfew.

Delta brings the MD-88s into JFK, but they also use the 738 and 752 for MCO-JFK. Today's schedule called for 2 752s, 1 738, and 1 MD-88. I am sure AA will begin additional flights over time, since they have DL and B6 to compete with over this route.

Interesting that they go just 1x when DL flies MCO-ATL virtually every 20 minutes (well, 13x daily) and offers tons of Europe ex Atlanta. I'm also going to guess that AA's FF base in Orlando is virtually nil, while most business travellers are DL FFs, who can also use CO 9x daily service to EWR to get to Europe.
