Well, after three months of intensive searching and more than 25 interviews later, I finally got an offer! I'll be working as the financial editor for this finance and investment publication. Journalism and editing is something I have absolutely no experience in, but I somehow was able to convince the company that I was capable for the role. The company is based in New Jersey, but I'll be working out of their Bayside office. I live in Bayside, so it's just a hop, skip and a jump away and I can just walk to work. It's one of the fast growing financial publications in the world. While my background is in accounting and finance, this job will give me the opportunity to learn more about investments, economics and meet new contacts and networks within the industry, which is never a bad thing. And while the hours are somewhat weird, it will give me an opportunity to do my Masters part time while working full time. I'll be starting my Masters in January, so the next two years are going to be hell!
So, thanks to all of you guys for your advice. It sure helped. I noticed my interviews were getting a lot better towards the end and I have all you guys to thank for it.
The last three months have been exceptionally trying and draining for me physically and emotionally. I'm glad there's at least a small light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks again!
